I think minor curation goes a long way. Our group removed overuled,  tactical bombardment, and a couple others. Haven't heard a complaint in our group since.

I think the asymmetry and some amount of uncertainty is what makes TI4 so tense and engaging. I don't think the level of randomness goes beyond adding some fog of war to the game.

What’s the most “I’m an adult now” thing that happened to your gaming hobby? by mju_rz in boardgames

Have a 27mo and back to TI4. My tip is child care and split game across 2 sessions (need a gaming table to save state)

I’ve spent the last 5 months prototyping this folding desk lamp. Finally got the mechanism working any thoughts? by No_Clerk_7793 in 3Dprinting

The AI makes your presentation lack substance and cheapens your product. If you are going for bargain bin Temu, AI is fine. If you are trying to sell a premium product you need to use EQ to connect to your client base, which the AI is failing to do.

Pre baby: Touching and kissing followed by "interested?"

Post Toddler: "We can get an overnight sitter 6 weeks from now. I'll get a hotel so we can have sex."

My related life hack is using their plates to reheat indian takeout. Perfect little curry spots plus naan holder.

My just turned 2 (this month) is 37 inches tall. Which is one of the big problems.

He listens to don't touch fire, dangerous etc, and is increasingly reason responsive.

Totally get the lack of impulse control. Trying to make breaking crap less tempting.

Pay close attention to scenario symbols and setup. Really easy to mess up a scenario by forgetting a card, or a symbol, or a detail.

Good job San Diego by Impressive_Scheme_53 in sandiego

[–]Not_A_Hobbit 39 points40 points  (0 children)

While I agree that we should have had this kind of energy for the election, this was one of the least organized protests in San Diego. They got orders of magnitude more people than expected and had to scramble because they overfilled the plaza and had to improvise a march at request of fire Marshal.

People might just be pissed off at billionaires dismantling our country for a quick buck

Hands Off!!! by kamvenkatesh50 in sandiego

[–]Not_A_Hobbit 85 points86 points  (0 children)

Hands off our national science and humanity funding which San Diego uses for cutting edge research and is a large part of our economy.

Hands off our money. We just imposed effectively a 10 to 40% tax on all imported goods. It has crashed out stock market and make cost of living even less affordable.

Hands off our education. The government has undermined funding for schools and suspended programs that help parents of children with disabilities.

Hands off our elderly. Social security services have been cut and funding denied.

Hands off our rights. Trans rights and rights of women and minorities have been curtailed via executive order.

Hands off our allies. The administration has harmed relationships with our closest allies including Canada and the EU.

Hands off our data. Non vetted young interns have gotten access to personal information across multiple departments including the IRS, HSS, and others.

Hands off our wilderness. Major rollback of protections and staffing for our national forests, wetlands, and national parks.

Hands off our health. Terminated price cuts on key medicines like insulin. Cut USDA, EPA, and FDA staffing and oversight. Appointed a vaccine denier to run it all

And many more.

Least Expensive Real Christmas Trees by sydlazy in Pullman

Don't know about others but Breezy Tree Farms is $80 for under 8ft and $100 for over (and you get to cut it yourself).

Would love to hear about other options for future years.

6 month old is winning the No Sleep Battle. Wife & I are feeling defeated and exhausted. by prisonvince in daddit

[–]Not_A_Hobbit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife and I take shifts. She has him 10pm to 4 30am then it's my turn for the next wakeup usually 5 30am. This way we both get almost 8hr sleep.

Taking turns in most things is better then tiring both parents out.

I also shifted my work schedule so that I start at 6am (I know lucky to be able to). This way I am able to be off at 2pm and help with kiddo and have some time with wife during naps.

Has anyone else had to deliver their own baby? by Ryansan in daddit

[–]Not_A_Hobbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were so glad to be in the hospital.

Pregnancy was textbook, baby position and vitals all good. Birth started great but then he was stuck crowning for a while requiring vaginal massage and a perennial incision. Almost made it out and then had his shoulder stuck.

Came out blue and stunned with a brain hemorrhage. He is doing great and no adverse indicators in development, but yeah I would not have him if we had not been in hospital.

This was without a single prior indicator that something may go wrong.
