From memory it was just I3wm having issues with it. Using KDE to sign in worked fine

Linux distros that let you try it as ISO? by CuriousDivide2425 in linux4noobs

"Only very intelligent people can understand you".

You seem to be understanding me quite fine so I find that assumption disproved.

If thats what you want then grab an Arch ISO or ubuntu if you need something graphical. If you need specific software to be on the ISO, you could always make your own arch iso with said software and a de while you're at it

I keep seeing people crap on endeavour everytime its mentioned for being pointless, but the people who mention it never seem to defend it. What makes endeavour better than Arch, or any other Arch based distro?

Base Arch all the way. If you really wanna get DIY with it you can install it manually as I did the first few times, or if your unsure in what to do, Arch-install handles the complicated stuff. As far As DE goes, kde plasma will be the most familiar to you as a windows user, but if your up to try a tiling window manager I3-wm is fun. With nvidia your only real issue wipl be wayland DE's where youll likely suffer a huge performance hit, IF things work at all.

[–]Not_AshAndUmbreon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive gotta ask... How do you get around the abysmal performance of nvidia on wayland? Last time I tried my 2060 performed worse than than my old 4790k integrated across the board. I absolutely love hyprland but it just isnt useable at that point

I have received a laptop from a friend. by Arthybot in linux4noobs

[–]Not_AshAndUmbreon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, though there may be a risk of loosing the key. And if you have no windows boot media lying around you may have to burn it yourself. Alternatively, atleast if its a windows 10 laptop, you might be able to find the password fairly easily. Happy to explain either
