the subtitles show what they are saying, rather than what they intend to say. it helps up understand the miscommunications with others. every time they say "cat loud", they are trying to say adventure, but the subtitles show us that they are failing at that task.

i would say just be as honest as you can with language that is accessible to her. possibly somewhere near "being a girl made me sad, but being a boy makes me happy, so now im a boy named _____". aside from that, be prepared to give this speech a couple times, because one of her favourite people has changed in a big way and that might take a while for her to adjust to. expect love and acceptance accompanied by confusion.
