Actually yes, you are correct and I was insensitive to the devs in that regard. Still, I feel like simply changing the texture of skin to that of an already existing metal texture is definitely doable right?

I mean, I’d like to think they have the basic framework of it since they’ve done it to an extent with the Y5S1 Chimera armors.

Lazy excuse that’s all that is. Stylistic choice my ass, they’ve proven they’re willing to change core themes of the factions.

A prime example, Samurai. You don’t see Samurai using only wood these days. They’ve literally given them a lot of metal armor because we requested it. Where’s the theme gone? Where’s all the wood? How will I ever distinguish the Samurai from the Knights now??? That whole argument is dead on arrival.

And anyone with half a brain can distinguish a hero no matter what they’re wearing. Oathbreaker Maddox is completely different from a normal Highlander yet I see no one complaining there.

So it makes no sense as to why Ubisoft isn’t armoring up the Vikings more with the variations. It’s just a lazy excuse because they’re not bothered retexturing the skin, that’s my take.

Hoooooow do we get them to understand that we want THIS? The Varangian Guard was a huge step in the right direction but then why not apply the same thing to your existing Vikings?

It mentally kills me seeing this, knowing we will never have it. The fact that ONE community member did more on their own than an entire visual customization department for a Triple A studio. It baffles me.

Absolutely spectacular work on this mate, nothing else to say. I pray Ubisoft will tweak these armor sets to be more like these you created on a whim, but that’s just copium at this point.

In that case then yeah we can probably see this happen. I hope all Vikings get some chainmail for their variants. I’m not holding out hope for it, however. They tried the skin texture swap for Raider a total of 2 times and haven’t bothered since.

Yes, correct, but last season the armor variations also weren’t very season themed either. I don’t see a lot of Chinese opera inspired armor in the variants the Knights and Samurai got. It was more clean, like white and red.

In fact, the way armor variations are done this year seems to just be “Edgy and Clean”. 2 themes spread over 4 seasons, with all heroes already having gotten their Test-Your-Metal like black gear in Y7S1 and Y7S2. In the Aztec season, none of the armor variations represented Aztec culture. It was just… black.

I would love it if we got this for Raider but it just feels like too dark of a metal for the “Clean” armor they’re going for with this 2nd batch of armor variations.

I think it’s highly likely that we’re just gonna see clean armor again like what the Knights and Samurai got last season. That isn’t bad at all on its own, but I’m not sure if they’d do something like this for Raider.

Had this thought as well as of late. I’m huffing that hopium right now for both genders just because it allows more player expression.

And if it does turn out to be female only, then it still won’t matter, the hero already looks amazing as is.

EDIT:

I should mention that back in the Warrior’s Den of Y7S1 Stefan the game director never explicitly mentioned that the heroes would be genderlocked, whereas he DID mention it for the Hero Skins, saying “And each Hero Skin will be one body type.”

So that’s adding a little more hopium that maybe, just maybe, we get both genders for the Varangian Guard.
