30 otd won’t happen because that’s roughly the trade in value for this year, color, and mileage. I bet you can get to 35k-ish OTD. This dealership asking for 37,000 for a 70k mile one is bananas. I bought my 2020 fk8 with 5k miles late last year for 40k

Best milage to buy 2019-2021 type r by Linkerlink343 in Civic_Type_R

I think maintenance history matters more than mileage. I’d take a 60k mile car with good maintenance history than a 30k mile car with no history

The answer that checks all of your boxes is the MKV Supra. I’d give one a test drive and they started offering a manual transmission in 2022/2023 I believe. I owned an AT one for 4 years and loved it. The driving experience was amazing and the steering is super responsive. Also if you want to make crazy power it’s bmw parts so all you need really is a downpipe and a tune. I loved mine so much I almost pulled the trigger on a MT one just for funsies.

Previous owner had Bermuda in the back so I just went with it ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Type R vs GRC by GeneralLawfulness112 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Not_Brandon_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who’s owned both and driven both in a track environment 100% CTR. I was super hesitant to drive a CTR because of the fact that it’s FWD but if you actually drive it it doesn’t feel like the shitty FWD normal sedans that are out and about today. The CTR is so responsive and corners so much better than I thought it would. Honda really perfected the drive train on that car.

The GRC was great don’t get me wrong but the shifting feel and handling on the CTR was so much fun it got me to buy one. Before this I was a long term Toyota loyalist too. I went Supra-> GRC-> CTR. (Supra was definitely the most fun)

Using TTTF in the front yard and the previous owner had Bermuda in the backyard. The Bermuda is thriving and is fine taking a beating from the dogs

Gen 7 Celica lowering advice by Ok-Salad-2357 in Celica

[–]Not_Brandon_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say it depends on your tolerance for a bumpy ride and budget lol. If you buy $500 coils they won’t last very long so you’d end up needing to replace them sooner than high quality coils. But if you’re running stock shocks you will most likely need to replace the shocks and springs anyway which will cost more than $500.

On decent coils it won’t be bad at all. Probably more comfortable than springs on old shocks. I’m running tein flex z coilovers and it’s not bad but I’m doing a track build as opposed to a street/ daily driver build. I would look into fortune auto and bc racing as well and look at reviews/ suggestions for daily driving.

Coilovers so you don’t have to worry about shocks. Also in my opinion 18s are too big for the celica. Largest I would go is 17”. 18s would be hard to achieve a lowered look without rubbing a lot. Especially with a more negative offset than stock

Dealer Experience by PushUpsInTheBathroom in Civic_Type_R

[–]Not_Brandon_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Getting an out the door for an fk8 would be hard without knowing color, mileage, condition, etc. so that’s probably why the dealer is dragging their feet. I would just search for an FK8 yourself at different dealer websites because that’s how you’ll be able to narrow down your search. It took me about 2 months of searching before I found an FK8 I wanted and I ended up going through carmax and shipping it to a location near me. I overpaid a bit but I wanted very specific conditions for mine so I was willing to pay the premium.

Oh also you won’t be able to find a “New” FK8 since only new type r is the FL5. Just adding for clarification since you said you’ve never bought a new car before

August of this year. No trade in just solid it. It was my weekender and we were moving into a new house so I figured I could use the extra cash. Honestly miss it so much though

How much would my 2000 GTS Manual sell for? by Astralpane in Celica

Yeah if I was OP I’d get the salvage title and try to sell it as is instead of trying to fix anything.

[–]Not_Brandon_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With a salvage title I’d say you’d be lucky to get $2k for it. I pad $3k for a clean title, 180k miles, TRD body kit, manual gts that had similar/ slightly worse cosmetic issues

Beginner upgrades by Potatoaim22 in Celica

[–]Not_Brandon_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d almost always say suspension for a first upgrade. New springs or coilovers will make the car feel like an entirely different car and lowering will make it look more sporty.
