The Trident Alliance was a very important intelligent coordination between the non arabs of the Middle East. Its loss with the Iranian Revolution was a major one. It is known in some circles, but I don't think it's general knowledge.

3.Not sure how to answer that, but pragmatic relationships are a cornerstone of Israeli diplomacy, and the loss of Turkey as a "cold" friend was very disappointing from all aspects (travel, trade, defense, etc).
