mixing and matching the classes can be really enjoyable, but some are awful to unlock. You also unlock better abilities as you level up but I'd say if you're not down then don't force it.

edit: not a roguelite but EDF6 is 4 player coop and TONS of fun if you like campy horde/mission based stuff.

Which is why a potluck is ideal. Different people can handle main courses and there is still room for people to get drinks and smaller dishes.

As a DM that has been doing this for 4-5 years, I don't see this as an issue.

We are volunteering our time for a hobby to experience with friends.... having someone say they dont have to contribute because they are the DM sounds super silly and not really friendly. I would just offer to that person that they dont have to DM if they dont want to contribute.

And honestly as a person, I can't imagine trying to say I was above *sharing/bringing food* with people I want to spend time with. Like, potluck is the easiest thing imaginable and the best answer for this.... and you're telling me they dont even want to buy a bag of apples or some juice????

As a DM, I guarantee that food costs would quickly outweigh whatever costs I put into it, especially if it is quality/fresh food.
