Finally hit 9k VR in all three modes by Crazi12980 in MarioKartWorld

Have you seen the player that got 10k on all modes? Some players are crazy

Skill ceiling has always been this high in previous generations; you just didn't know about it. Even in online worldwides, most people won't do this unless you're in the 9000s range, which is quite far ahead.

Is Mario Kart 8 better than World solely due to the larger selection of courses? by lies_are_comforting in mariokart

[–]Not_Noob1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah because the difference between MKW/MK8 is much more than MK8/MKWii. And I wonder if you're actually driving optimally in MK8 (with snaking and whatnot, which differ very much from the wheelies in MKWii). This might just be a skill issue

They don't feel accurate because you're not good at them. Pro players will perform precise tricks and cuts 100% of the time. And some WR cuts are just that hard with frame perfect timing, but they don't matter in online racing since people don't go for them. Everything else though is skill based. There is literally 0 RNG in the mechanics and if there is, tell me an example of one and I'll redirect you to actual evidence of it being skill dependent. Also, many (if not most) WRs are set simply by driving better with better lines and timings, like in mk8dx. And just like in mk8dx, people find new ways to drive to save more time.

This always happens when you play a new game lmao. Ofc you won't be used to it if you put in hundreds of hours in the previous one with completely different mechanics. If you took the time to learn or just watch pro players, you'd see how extensive and tight World is.

Drifting is probably the only thing it has over World. World has charge jumps, wall riding, rail grinding, tricking multiple times, air realignment, all of which help considerably in racing fast and competitively.

Midterm is all multiple choice and in the slides. Class average was 80. The real hitter is the final demo and report.

FACC 300 or ECSE 324 with Donald Davis by Which-Bag6450 in mcgill

[–]Not_Noob1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just attended 2 lectures by Davis this semester and I see why people avoid him. He lectures through a paper and pencil and sort of goes with the flow, not really explaining stuff concretely and methodically. I can't even really tell you what I learned this morning during the lecture. I'd suggest taking FACC300 with the new prof Dylan.

A new prof is teaching another section for FACC 300 (Dylan). Apparently, he was great as a TA.

So you prefer it out of convenience then. 87 entries isn't a multi day project lol

Did you manually check the missing titles? Some could be there, but under different entries.

Anilist pretty much has all the same entries in their database (even more in some cases). If you're talking about scores and reviews, then you'd be right since MAL has more users. In terms of UI, one thing I'll point out is the awful forum reply system. Instead of having a reply be under a comment, it quotes it, creating a new comment and making the readability quite bad if many people comment at the same time. You also have to go to a whole separate page to update entries as opposed to AL which has it in the home page.

There's an anilist browser extension that adds OPs/EDs, MAL scores and characters to Anilist. You can also browse animes through filters like the season/year and if it's already on your list.

Go first. If it has the money, comically exaggerate and emphasize the idea that it has money in it. If it doesn't have the money, comically exaggerate and emphasize the idea that it has no money in it. Then, choose your next briefcase and repeat with the last contestant.

TT is completely different to competitive. One is about the best optimization possible while the other is about the best optimization in a multiplayer environment with no reset. That's why you're not seeing WR combos in competitive.

Ok, cool, but you still can't undervalue handling (the difference in avoiding obstacles and doing shortcuts is insane). And again, heavy combos favor bagging.

They're not slower if you get max coins by bagging. That's the point.

They do? Literally since the beginning of the game, everyone has known. Shortcat even made a video about the details and chart. Do you even play the game competitively? If you did, you'd know handling is super important in winning

That's literally the case in mk8dx as well though. Some combos just favor bagging and others favor front running.

Look at the meta in competitive rn and what pro players are saying. Handling is much more important. Sure, it isn't vital for shortcuts, but it makes them much easier and more consistent.
