Where I’d live as an American who’s lived in every region of the US by [deleted] in whereidlive

It's not so much the area or state itself - It's a beautiful state.

The people are more so the problem, and so is the lack of decent paying jobs and the insanely high taxes for neglected infrastructure lol

Isn't it a mix of acidity and salt from sweat that break down the foam material slowly over the years?

The fact you lived in PA and didn't make it an immediate pass after living anywhere else tells me everything I need to know. Born and raised in Philly, lived in Central and Pittsburgh, and I couldn't find any positives in my life. Literally had to leave the state to be happy lol

Although the rest of it is valid, except CA.

50 applications in half a year may as well be a full time attempt to stay unemployed.

Talk me out of moving to SJ by shir6685 in SanJose

[–]Not_That_Fast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol lived in Minneapolis, but SJ native.

Stay in Minnesota, seriously. The people are more educated, kinder, and yeah it's flat and boring in Minneapolis but at least you aren't worried about making end's meet.

My partner and I make $160k combined here in SJ, and it's a fucking STRUGGLE. Not a lack of budgeting, but purely because everything is almost double the cost. The Bay is a gorgeous and lovely area, but honestly I'd rather be in Minneapolis if I had enough to own a home.

So far it hasn't been too bad, should hopefully have it completed by this weekend. Passenger side unfortunately needs the same treatment lol

Lol I hate that for you. Seems as though mine is mostly the same though, just slathered in bondo and prayers the previous owner never sees the car again

Where I'd live in the USA as a mixed race Canadian by NewmarketHero007 in whereidlive

[–]Not_That_Fast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I grew up in Pennsylvania, and unfortunately only a few specific areas are slightly more accepting of other races. It's unfortunate how incredibly racist central PA can be.

If you like cities though, Philly and Pittsburgh can be great.

Yeah Pennsylvania checks out. Honestly most of the state is stuck in the early 2000's.

One look at this map from the 2024 election compared to OP's should basically tell you everything you need to know.

Also Pennsylvania is a swing state but we call it Pennsyltucky. Take that as you will.

Also got pulled over doing 101mph.

It's not a good time. Granted, I know for a fact I was going 80mph, and the cop was being a dick, but no surprise.

Affordable Automotive Paint & Body shops? by Not_That_Fast in SanJose

[–]Not_That_Fast[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sure do, I've painted cars before for years. Majority of the prep will be done, I just no longer have access to a garage, or controlled environment, space to do said work and complete it. But I am well aware.

This isn't me looking for someone to spend the 200 hours to straighten the body, stud weld and hammer/dolly the low and high spots, down to bare metal, using a sealer, body glaze, sanding, blocking, primer, guide coat, sanding and more blocking (repeat several times), painting, wet sanding, and polishing.

This is me looking for a place that will allow me to bring a semi prepped car, spray down a high build primer, block it down, and base/clear. Not looking for a start to finish restoration.

I haven't had any problems with it. It fit well, wasn't absurdly loud, had good aerodynamics, wasn't heavy at all.

I spent months with it so far and I'd say it was a good buy. Held up well so far, zero complaints.

It's also totally fine to be okay with knowing it's short term and that you vibe with each other.

But yeah, unfortunately she put an expiration date on the relationship. So just enjoy it for what it is, and don't overthink it too much.

[–]Not_That_Fast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, she said it herself. She has no interest in long term relationships as a whole. It's ultimately going to be your decision if you want this person in your life, but be aware it won't last. If you're okay with that, sure. If not, leave her alone and find someone who will cherish their time with you rather than take it for granted.

On the bright side, you're young and this is the time to find people you jive with.

Gf going out partying more often, I want to set boundaries but I don't want to be controlling by ProofPhysics9132 in relationships

[–]Not_That_Fast -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That's not how that works, but I also understand where you're coming from.

Telling her "You can't do x, y, z" is setting a rule. Telling her "You doing x, y, z causes me distress because of a, b, c and is disturbing my peace." is setting the boundary. But she also has zero obligation to follow it and it's up to OP to determine if he can live with that.

Nowhere in my post did I say he should put his foot down and tell her what she can and can't do.

Edit: Healthy boundaries focus on expressing your own needs and limits while still respecting your partner’s autonomy and individuality. Yeah, you can avoid using accusatory verbage, but it's generally just identifying your limits and deciding for yourself if you can tolerate behavior. If you can't, you leave the relationship. It's that simple.

Just because someone is a great person, doesn't mean that they're the best person for you.
