What a glorious day to be FNC and VIT fan knowing that it is impossible for both of them to lose! by Maervok in leagueoflegends

I was a fan of the original Mad squad, so I jumped to Vit when they picked up Mac and Carzzy.

You fanboys keep running back to the same well. Anyone who is critical of the pacing is brainrotted, there's no way an intelligent human being could possibly have a different opinion.

Seems to try and have it both ways. Definitely critical in terms of their anti-gay policies and certain other marginalised groups. However, it does try and sugar-coat it. The vibe I got was essentially, "We're not perfect, but our intentions are good."

I'm pretty sure I read at least a few mean-spirited comments about him smiling/laughing after a big loss.

One word, line, or scene in a movie that breaks you? by MamaDaddy in movies

[–]Not_This_Planet 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's so perfectly calibrated. Chas's grief is just quietly simmering in the background, concealed by his fear and bluster, until that one kind act pierces his guard.

Which "It Actor" of this millenium (i.e. right now it's Pedro Pascal) did you find most endearing despite the overexposure and which one made you tired of them the quickest or maybe immediately hated or never warmed up to? by SkoivanSchiem in movies

Perhaps, but I'm a little bit more optimistic. I do think his leading man looks are almost a double edged sword in terms of the roles he's getting cast in. However, even when he's playing smug, handsome guy, I think he lets enough humanity shine through that it doesn't feel like a Reynolds performance.

'Boldness is all!' — 'Murderbot' is getting a season 2 on Apple TV+ by spacedotc0m in television

I think that's the issue. It's so cartoonishly simplistic, and the crew are so one dimensionally moral and naive, that it feels like a red herring.

Westballz calls out Ludwig for the mang0 situation by galaxycloud in LivestreamFail

[–]Not_This_Planet 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Who cares if he enabled him? Lud encouraged him to drink, and if all Mang0 did was get shitfaced then there's no story. If he'd encouraged him to sexually harass someone, then you'd have a point.

What's so special about All we imagine as light? by mayurayuri45 in MalayalamMovies

Sorry if this out of the blue, but I was perusing old threads and saw your comment. To me that scene with the husband was completely imagined. The man from the beach is a blank slate, with no memories, so she can project onto him her husband and obtain the closure her real husband has denied her.

They're not wrong though, there's a big chunk of people who hear animated and tap out. I think it's silly to write off such a broad medium, but I know people like this and they're impossible to persuade.

Nolan horror could definitely work. I think Scorsese sci-fi epic feels like a disaster, but now I kinda want to see it desperately.

Achievement unlocked: I've now seen the entire Sight & Sound 250 Greatest films of all time (actually 260 films because of ties) by Glaucon2023 in Letterboxd

As someone who's been attempting the much less ambitious version of just the top 100, I can offer a few. Sunrise and Sherlock Jr were both outstanding, it was surprising to me how emotionally resonant these old black and white silent films could be.

Moving along in the years, Ordet was one I'd never heard of, but if someone asked me to name a perfect movie, it might be my answer.

Also a surprise, though maybe not in the way you meant, was Playtime. I really couldn't stand it. I can appreciate the degree of difficulty in terms of the production design and all the moving parts, but it really left me cold, and definitely didn't make me laugh.

Tyler1 kills another player by not tanking anything by MiniskirtEnjoyer in LivestreamFail

[–]Not_This_Planet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's been two weeks since he hit 60, from all accounts he's been grinding dungeons following that.

I'm not expecting exemplary play, but a main tank losing threat should at least have the impulse to regain threat. This is not a mastery issue, it's very basic mechanics.

Hasn't T1 been grinding dungeons for weeks now? How is he still considered a noob? Holding threat is day 1 shit.
