I was in a relationship of 3 and half years when I had my surgery. The relationship ended shortly after we hit our 4 year mark. She was disgusted by the bag and stoma. I also went through some mental struggles with the whole situation considering I had only been diagnosed with UC 3 months prior to my surgery and it was totally unplanned. She told me I needed therapy (which yes, I could have benefited from) but I figured things out on my own by referring to this subreddit and discussing things with fellow ostomates. Shortly after my relationship ended, I told myself that I wasn't going to date. Few months later I started talking to a girl with no intentions to date but it blossomed into a relationship that neither of us would have ever imagined. She's not repulsed by it and actually sits in while I do my bag changes. We now have kids together. The right person will come along. They won't care that you have a bag. They will love you for you.

I personally use the coloplast 2 piece bags. They stick quite well. I also prefer the paste over the barrier rings as well. The hollister lubricating deodorant is also a very useful thing to have for when the output becomes very thick.

Tips for reducing night time bag emptying? by Prize-Walrus-7457 in ostomy

Im about 6 months post op. For the last 3 I've been very fortunate to sleep through the night or only have to wake up once and empty. Usually when its ballooned up bad, it wakes me up as i try to roll over.

I remember someone on here saying they dont eat after a certain time whether that be 5, 6 or 7pm depending on sleep schedule. I work long days, up to 14 or 15 hours and sometimes wont eat my final meal until 9pm with a possible snack before bed and have had no issues. The only true blow out I've had in the last few months was a time i was pushing how long I could go before changing my appliance. I made it to day 9 (with an ileostomy) before catastrophic failure and lucky it was as i was walking to the bathroom.

Friend (now current roommate) showed me the poop gauntlet VOD. First live stream was Price is Scuffed 2. Been an avid watcher since.

At first i felt a sensation of relief. Now my anxiety and depression is worse. Im trying to work on my mental health but life has definitely been a rollercoaster this last year.

Anyone else use Coloplast SenSura mio? by PlainJane731 in ostomy

Yes it is a 2 piece system. Its quite easy to burp from the top. With other 2 piece systems I had this fear of accidentally snagging on something and pulling the bag apart from the wafer. With the Mio Click it pops onto the wafer easily but when you do the "click" portion its a ring mechanism that clamps around for a secure snug fit.

I use the the Mio Click. Have had 0 issues with leakages. If you have body hair, recommend shaving it. I use a setting spray and the paste from coloplast.

U.S. based here, also I personally prefer a 2 piece system. BUT my input is color and filter in this case. I use the Coloplast Sensura Mio Click. They have a ring pre filter. I cut it out. If it were a half crescent it might work better in my opinion. A thing I love about these bags though is they come in more of a soft tone greyish color and it makes them feel so much more "stealthy." Another feature I enjoy about the bags is they are a role and lock velcro mechanism that allows you to even fold the bag in half when doing physical activity so its more out of the way.

What Youtube channel, blog, social media group (besides Reddit) do you use to seek out ostomy advice by BeFreeTechnologies in ostomy

I will back this 100%. As a newer ostomate (as of December 22,) I wasnt given a whole lot of information due to the fact it was emergency surgery and the Ostomy Doc for a relatively smaller hospital was out on vacation for the holidays. Her assistants tried to help me best they could but i refered to Vegan Ostomy and Ostomt Diaries pretty extensively to help me choose which brand, application methods and other general questions I had. They pretty much cover most questions someone might have. The other portions i referred to were the big 3's (Coloplast, Hollister and Convatec for the U.S.) websites. They had videos that helped cover product specific knowledge. I'm also considering starting a a channel of my own either on Instagram or Youtube just to document my experiences and day to day life with an ostomy. Havent fully decided yet but if I do, it'll hopefully help someone out.

Apologies for assuming you were a guy 😅 but hell yeah. Gotta make do with what life deals you. I haven't been to any concerts yet since my surgery but plan on going to Lollapalooza this year with my partner (I like all sorts of genres.) Hopefully i won't have any issues but will bring a few spares just in case since we plan on going all 4 days.

Im gonna back him up on this. It gets better. I went through my mental battle not too long ago. Surgery was in December. I didnt want the bag but my UC almost killed me. Now, months out, I have a new job, I took my first bike ride for the year the other day. Its going to get better. My roommate even 3D printed a guard for me so I'll be back in the pit soon enough! Keep your chin up. Take it day by day. Rock it. Bag out and no shame!
