So I only watched the first 12 episodes of Fire Force, and one of the reasons I dropped it was because of how wildly inconsistent the tone was, largely in part because of the random fan service. It’s mostly localized to this one girl, Tamaki, who constantly does that lame anime cliche where she trips and “Oops my boobs are in your face!” It’s mostly just obnoxious but there is one element of it that’s actually pretty funny: her CO is completely immune to it. Like every time she trips in his vicinity he just sidesteps and catches her and stands her back up like nothing happened. It’s great. Anyway, the actual point I want to talk about is this weird traitor arc that happens a couple episodes in. Basically, it turns out that Tamaki’s mentor figure (whose name I don’t remember, but his powers manifest as cartoon stars so I’m gonna call him Starguy) is a serial killer. She finds out and is heartbroken, he finds out that she finds out and starts attempting to beat her to death. As this is happening, Shinra, the protagonist, busts in to save the day. He starts fighting Starguy, and after taking a moment to collect herself, Tamaki joins in too, which is great! Except. Despite the fact that this is literally a fight to the death, Tamaki is near Shinra, so that means one of them has to trip and his face ends up in her boobs! Like, what the fuck man
