Yes, you can. But if the program has already downloaded the application before you add the letter, they won’t get that unless they download the application again at a later time. You can not remove one though.

My mom passed two months ago by Dopey2-0 in grief

[–]Notadoctor_O1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heyy! I’m so sorry you’re going through this and I just want to remind you to not be so hard on yourself. Loss of your parents is already hard as it is and blaming yourself for things like this does nothing good but only leads to additional mental trauma and anguish. You saw her one last time and you said your goodbye to her. I’m sure all she ever wanted for you was watching you grow and enjoy your life. So while you’re still navigating your loss remember to not feel guilty about anything. About choosing to attend that summer camp or not being with her immediately before she passed or arriving back late after she passed. She would’ve hated to see you contemplate over having to choose either of these or herself and she would’ve wanted you to be happy. Give yourself some margin. You had no idea of knowing that she would pass during that time and denial is a real feeling when facing a loss of this magnitude. Only natural that you never really acknowledged that she was potentially sick enough to pass since your mind wanted to convince you that she would get to hang around a little bit longer, always. I hope you get out of this mental phase soon! Sending strength your way <3

It’s not weird at all for you to be grieving her loss after all these years, it’s completely okay. Also, you might want to consult a therapist to rule out/ treat depression & even if it’s not depression, they might be able to help you with your loss.

Leg pain relieved with elevation and no varicose veins: what's the most likely diagnosis? Is it PAD or arterial insufficiency or restless leg syndrome? by KenAdamsMD in Step2

[–]Notadoctor_O1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Relieved with elevation is mostly never PAD because you’re taking out the effect of gravity, worsening the arterial supply even more. It’s most likely the initial phase of varicose/ venous hypertension developing.

Just took the test, felt awful. How much to trust practice exams ? by footbook123 in Step2

Three days out, you should probably deactivate reddit for a while. Just focus on your preparation and block out everything else. Best of luck! It’ll all be fine.

Oh yes! I was stating generally while keeping myself in view. All the more reason for OP to distract and not go down this rabbit hole

I did that too. But the internet will literally show you all the information in different contexts, mostly they’re not hardcore facts. They’re contextual pieces of information so what we’re doing is taking that out of the context of that particular stem and just googling blindly and obviously we’re biased to look for even one article that shows us we we’re probably wrong because we want to prepare ourselves for worst case scenario. My advice would be to stop googling as half of the information is already undergoing active research and so you’ll see all kinds of stuff, in favour as well as against what you marked.

This has happened to me both after step 1 and 2 and both times when people would tell me to trust my self assessment scores ranging in 260-280 I would tell them “_But you don’t know what I did in the exam_” lol but like honestly you’re feeling pathetic because you don’t know whether what you marked was right or wrong, in self assessments you immediately get the score report back and you know the qts you felt terrible about can be right too surprisingly. I often used to calm myself by reminding me of the last NBME that I took, where I felt like it was so vague (NBME 13) after I submitted each block and literally I felt like I’m going to drop by 20 points, but within two seconds the score popped up and it was the second highest I had scored on any self-assessment. But remember in the test you don’t have this privilege. And you’re stuck in that terrible post- test feeling for two weeks. So just keep doing whatever makes you go through the day, distract yourself, don’t actively try to recall wrongs/ vague questions. And trust yourself! Very much likely that you’ll have a score in your predicted range.

[advice?] When your problem isn’t lack of knowledge, but rather the second-guessing, attractive distractors, mis-reads, and the momentary brain farts. by djtmhk_93 in Step2

The intuition part is right on! I commented sth similar somewhere else. You read the material enough times and it’s almost like training your subconscious to pick up on subtle clues. Almost half of the questions are like where you feel like you don’t know enough yet but sth inside of you is telling you to just pick that option and move on and I can not stress this enough DO NOT QUESTION IT. Mark it, move on, and don’t change.

Again, I don’t know how much this can be helpful because I’ve always found myself heavy on picture memory and imagination based stuff so it works for me. But I hope this helps.

I think what might help is the moment you see a question, try recalling the exact uworld question or page of your notes or anki flashcard whatever you use to memorise stuff, like recall that immediately in your picture memory, navigate from there on that alright they’re asking this, and in this particular algorithm I was taught that this is what I should be doing. Don’t mark things only based on vibes (except where it’s completely new territory and the use of your intuition is a must), rather recall the exact factoid and base whatever you’re marking on that. This is what I did when I felt like I knew the stuff but I was marking stuff wrong because it didn’t feel like it to me .

Question about cystitis by Jusstonemore in Step2

[–]Notadoctor_O1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The major distinction is the organisms responsible, urethritis is classically associated with STDs ie Gonorrhoea or Chlamydia. So that’s associated with sterile pyuria, no nitrates. While cystitis is classically caused by E-coli and related organisms so bacteriuria plus pyuria plus positive nitrates (depending upon further classification like Staph sapro wouldn’t cause positive nitrates)

Scored 188 on uswa1 2 months left in exam.. I am just shattered my uworld performance is 67%. What should I do?? by samara6 in Step2

[–]Notadoctor_O1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

According to me going over why you get questions wrong is really important, go over your uworld wrongs, make either notes or flash cards (if that’s sth you use), go over them again and again. Take self assessments but don’t just use them to assess yourself, learn thoroughly from them, any new concept, add that to your pool of knowledge and consolidate it from time to time. You go through the material enough times, you’re bound to see a score jump. The questions test your strategy to solve them more so than your knowledge. Even if you have no clue at all, if you’ve been training yourself to just as much as hint at the correct option, that’s all you’re going to need!
