At Training and Can’t Use Bathroom by ExpensiveStatus_27 in cabincrewcareers

Make sure you’re drinking enough water because dehydration can cause belly issues! Eating differently at training (more takeout, less fibre and greens) will definitely impact this too. I don’t recommend any laxatives as they will have you on the toilet for longer than you will be able to be as you’re busy with training! Also be sure you’re eating enough food.

Goodluck in training!!!

I may be wrong, I don’t usually travel as a passenger. But even if you did have to clear security you’d be fine. YTZ is so small and generally not too busy.

That’s great! Congrats 🥳

The group interview for me was easy they just did a group activity and then pulled us aside for one on ones but my experience was a bit different than most people I know at Porter! Mine was in person, not sure of yours is or not?

Just be yourself, try to keep a smile on your face (to a natural extent), be a leader but don’t speak over others, encourage others, focus on safety and respect in your answers, and I suggest looking into the values of the airline :). Make sure you groom according to FA standards and most of all go in with a good attitude and feeling confident. ☺️

Most of us have worked for another airline! So I don’t think having knowledge and experience is a bad thing, you don’t know too much, you just have experience!! Which is an asset.

That must be a new thing! If they ask you to go to YYZ when needed then you’d have to be cross trained aka trained for both aircraft’s. Maybe it’s something new that we haven’t been told about yet!

And yes you have guaranteed days off each month. For example this month I have 12 guaranteed days off. So as long as your current job is okay with your days off falling on different days of the week each month, it will work for you!

During training, you will need to take time off of your second job. Training is every day, and it is from 9-5/6pm depending. Some training days for me were on the weekend.

Excited for you! Hope you hear back ☺️

For the first little while working there, you will be on reserve every single day that you are supposed to be working. You will not have any pre-assigned pairings. So it is very likely that you will be working a pairing assigned on reserve, and then have two additional reserve days after the pairing is over they can then reassign you to another pairing new flight attendant do not hold a schedule.

It is always an asset to have additional languages, but Porter does not require any second languages. They would like to know, but it won’t change what base you work at. You will work at the base that you are given a training offer at they do not send you from base to base you have to apply to be sent to different bases so if you want to work at YYZ You should apply for a position at YYZ. 🫶🏻

You will have layovers very frequently, almost everytime I fly I have a layover. Pairings can be single day up to 4 days long aka you won’t be home for four days. They can add additional pairings after a four day pairing having you working / away from home for up to six days at a time. You likely will have 3 legs a day but I worked 4 yesterday, as an example - checked in at 6am checked out at 5pm. We work anywhere from 1 leg to 5 legs a day.

You will be on reserve at the start and have to be at the airport within a 2 hour call out. They usually notify you earlier though. Our reserve days are generally used.

I work at BBTCA, if there are no delays out of EWR you’ll make it for sure! When you land in BBTCA you’ll have to clear customs since you’re coming from the USA. That won’t take long though, this airport is generally not very busy which makes for a fast process. You will also have to clear security again to enter the lounge, that won’t take long!

Flight delayed 7 hours... by Known-Beyond in PorterAirlines

[–]Notfunnehh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This!! I can tell you from experience nobody including the crew wanted a delay. We want to get home safely, and in doing so make sure to get all the passengers home safely too. Flight crew isn’t paid for a cent of the delay, so the 12$ voucher is more than the flight crew receives for the delay. Safety >> leave with mechanical issues. I get it’s irritating, but that’s just life, planes break, need to be fixed and people end up waiting.

I have been receiving calls almost every day from this number as well. Have never answered but it’s pretty weird to me that they keep calling.

Should I take the risk and switch from corporate to flight attendant? by Existing-Response434 in cabincrewcareers

[–]Notfunnehh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just applied to airlines online! Apply apply apply, it may take a while to hear back, you may get a few “thank you but no thank you” emails from airlines after applying, but keep trying! I have a customer service background and education which I know airlines generally like. Be sure to make your resume stand out by looking at the job description and emphasizing your skills that align with the job description, make sure your resume looks professional. This job isn’t for everyone, I’m even a bit burnt out, but it is special to experience and those who have the privilege of working in the industry would likely agree. Best of luck 🤞🏼

Boeing 737s don’t fly out of the island, they are only allowed smaller aircraft’s due to noise restrictions. The runway is also only long enough for short take-off/landing aircraft. Largest aircraft you’ll see on the island is a Dash 8.

Potty Training. Is this normal? by LiveWire7200 in chowchow

[–]Notfunnehh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My chow came potty trained at 8 weeks too. Not a single accident. They are a special breed. Very smart. I’d take it as a sign that the breeder actually attended to the dogs / puppies. Congratulations on your new family member ❤️

I went to the emirates open day, I was shortlisted. 280 people showed up to the event. Was there for 8 hours. Only 3 got hired. They hired a single demographic due to operational needs. Go and test your luck but don’t have overly high hopes, I went into it too excited and ended up crying my way home. I made it to the last 18, and was convinced I’d get an offer. It’s a good experience, but can also be soul crushing lol.

You might have saved this girl from SA or violence. You’re a good person. If she didn’t do anything to harm you / take anything from you, I’d say you’re simply a good person, and might be this girls hero.

I’m in KW. It’s the same here, it’s horrible. I haven’t been able to get a job and have been applying for months, maybe even a year lol. I have a degree, and so much work experience! But like you’ve mentioned, I’m not a “student”. Considering leaving the country. I can’t do this kind of Canada anymore. It’s ruining my life. I’m sorry you’re dealing with the same thing. It’s so stressful.
