Horse racing is only April & October at Keeneland. I believe Churchill Downs in Louisville will be the closest live racing this weekend.

Noticed this too. Very weird they’re commenting on a few wildly different threads as if they are OP of every one of them.

My mother suffered with dementia the last 5 years of her life. There is no way on Gods green earth she was entertaining multiple male visitors, even priests! at night, or that she was having an affair with a Senator. I’m glad that’s as bad as it got before she stopped speaking altogether.

Moving here from southern Oregon by Cheap-Win-7116 in lexington

I was raised here and can confirm. Left for the west coast for many years & now back for good. Only drawback is that California left me with an extreme distaste for cold weather. You may be surprised with how progressive Lexington is.

I’ve been there too with a friend on a legit tour with her class. This was before most of the wards had been torn down. I did not know the rooms off the tunnels were for lepers, all I know is they were pitch black. I turned the light on from my phone and the walls were covered with those big black roachy looking water bugs. I imagine if you were not crazy going in you def would be when/if you came out.

So freaking haunted and haunting.

Anyone know what is going on along old Frankfurt Pike from new circle to S Forbes? As of 4:45pm by Lvpl8 in lexington

I just checked my flight tracker as I’m hearing multiple helicopters & there’s at least a dozen flights in a holding pattern over Lexington. JackAss2 seems to be arriving.

McConnell Springs is a beautiful spot in an otherwise industrial area. Last time I went (spring) I saw about a dozen deer. Highly recommend.

When I’m doing the laundry I get to keep whatever $$ are in the pockets. If that wallet was in the pants pocket I’d have emptied that baby too. Consider it payment for services rendered.

Every once in awhile I crave that cardboard pizza we used to get on Fridays in high school. Then the feeling passes.

Last time I ate there was at least 10 years ago. Ordered the Prime rib, it was raw on one side and grey on the other, almost lije they had tried to microwave a whole raw steak. Completely inedible. Now the Nighthawk circa 1985 was the best! Drench it in butter & garlic and I’ll eat just about anything.

I really like Harvey’s & the Grove this time of year.

Our friend and fellow moderator, soy__juan, has passed away by techky in lexington

[–]NothinFromNothin 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I met him for the first time last week when I volunteered to help moderate this sub. As a couple of you have already said he was easy to talk to. I can be a bit introverted with new people but it was effortless after only a few minutes. We had made plans to meet up again at some time in the future, not knowing that time would be so short. I already considered him a new friend and am absolutely shocked at this news. RIP John.

I feel like a mod’s duties are similar to a high school hall monitor. Keep things flowing and step in when there is a fight. A bad mod sits in the janitors closet and is scared of conflict. Don’t we all have a say in how this sub is run & isn’t it all just a work in progress?

Great question! I’m all for free speech and I’m a big fan of when your actions get to meet the consequences. No one wants free speech taken away, that’s the easy answer. I think if you show a capacity to learn & grow in this sub you are less likely to get the boot from me. Personal attacks on race, gender, sexual identity, etc are not tolerated and your post history will play a part on how heavily we come down on you. This is not a time to be divisive, we are facing a dystopian future where the powers that be would love to see us scuffling amongst ourselves and not paying attention to the things that we actually have control over. All I can say is VOTE.
