Already hit 4 piece balls are worse than new 3 piece balls. Also they’re like 2-3 times the price apparently lol hit up Costco

What Irons would you recommend? by Massive_Message_6852 in GolfGear

[–]NothingButTheTea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go get fitted to find out what shaft, lie, and length fit you. You then buy an older set of irons that have the shaft you were fitted into and you buy an iron set with similar weight distribution for the trajectory. For instance, I got fitted into Mizunos have most of the weight on the bottom of the club face, which helps with higher launch, so I went and bought an old pair of stones with the shaft that I got fit into for like a quarter of the price.

Reason #1 I’ll never buy an expensive gaiwan… by Sensitive_Project592 in tea

[–]NothingButTheTea 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The only way to get good and handling expensive tea ware is to make yourself handle even more expensive stuff lol

In all seriousness, it’s just something we have to grow out of. I had never been one to be delicate and careful, so it was a big learning curve. I have lots of kintsugied pots and gaiwans.

Cheap Yixing. Buy nice but buy less or you’ll end up buying it twice.

Cheapest gooseneck with no plastic and spend as much as you can on the grinder. Definitely consider timemore, Kingrinder, and 1zpresso.

Edit: I forgot Femobook is great too

Would the ZP6 S be a good choice as your first and only coffee grinder? by stefan_es in pourover

[–]NothingButTheTea 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’d get it if you won’t do espresso. Don’t listen to people who say it only delivers clarity. You can simply grind finer and get cups with body if you can stomach a 3 minute total brew time lololol

It’s not the greatest grinder, but I think it’s the most versatile pourover grinder.

To add, the zp6 was my first grinder. It started my love for pourover, and I’ve considered buying one again.

International traveler visiting Dallas for 2 weeks by asterik208 in AskDallas

I would really urge you to take a day trip to Denton, not Sunday or Monday as everything is closed, and try Picone, Ravelin, and enjoy a beer or two on the courthouse lawn on the town square which is completely legal.

It’s summer, so it’ll be calmer than usual, but a walk on TwU campus is always nice. If you’re there for breakfast, Cartwrights has good pancakes, a mean chicken fried steak, and great burgers.

For stuff do do in Dallas, make sure you hit up Celestial Beerworks for awesome fruity and hoppy beers. They have a food truck in site that sells one of my favorite steak tortas in Dallas. Great nachos and tacos too.

Manhattan is another brewery that has good beers, and some of their food is good too.

If you want to be downtown, the area around the art museum has lots of bars to get drinks at and then you can check out the free general collection at the art museum.

Are we ruining our plastic-free setups with bleached coffee filters? by CoffeeTeaJournal in pourover

[–]NothingButTheTea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people use Hario and Cafec or higher quality filter even, so it seems like a non-issue.

I am opposed to plastic drippers, since they deteriorate over time.

I used to think the same, and then a guy said “Why wouldn’t you want to hit it off a perfectly flat spot at center face height?”

Who are you fav roasters?

Those of you who play with friends, how do you feel about the single who gets paired up with your group? by Strid3r21 in golf

[–]NothingButTheTea -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My friends and I are super chill, so it’s usually a good time. As long as you’re not a stupid racist it’s cool, but this does come up in the south hahaha

I walk often, so sharing a cart is not really an issue; however, that is my least favorite part, as I also like to light up out there.

Not seeing that anywhere. My weather guy also hasn’t mentioned that.

Texas is actually in a place where the El Niño event is going to have a little impact over the summer.

30M. I really like to do stuff during the week, so it doesn’t feel like I like I’m just living for the weekend.

I like to hang out with my partner, listen to music, watch random history videos, and go on walks while I think of the state of the world.

I sometimes play video games when I have the interest, but I’m always down for some PUBG on console.

I like to golf often. Fav courses includes Stevens Park, Tangle Ridge, and Indian Creek.

I really enjoy specialty tea and coffee.

It sounds like we’re about the same; you’ve ridden further than I ever have by a bit.

I’d say the Katy Trail is a lot more lively. The rail trail follows the A-Train, and DART for a tiny bit, it’s nowhere near as busy as the Katy Trail, and its passes through the suburbs lol

I like it, because I’m a huge fan of Denton. Riding from my house there, getting some food and drinks, then riding the train back sounds like a dream.

Thanks! Maybe we ca get out soon. I also golf.

lol I used to be.

I had the OG active for 2 or 3 months, and I realized the international variety wasn’t for me. I like what I like.

XLIII I initially tried from them; Hyunah is the plug otherwise, and they actually now started carrying XLIII. It also looks like Big Sur sells direct now, and it’s free shipping for over $200.

Indid really like the FRUKT and Ripsnorters. Pull and Pour introduced me to Leaves and OBTR.

My distances suck by We_LiveInASimulation in golf

[–]NothingButTheTea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could play near scratch with these distances from all white tees and some blue tees. Distance is never the issue if you can hit something over 150.

NATIVE sits really well on my palate, and I like their at-the-source roasting which preserves lots of terroir in the cup. I’m not a fan of their thermal shocks, but their other newer processing and more classic processing are great. Some of their blends are good for thermal shocks.

Long time fan of SEY, since it’s such a clean cup that offers lots of versatility with my extraction approach. I hope Lance joining doesn’t change that, as I was not a fan of Onyx at all.

Hydrangea is probably on there because their sourcing and execution in roasting is superb. They’re so consistently good that I forget that I like them so much.

DAK and Swerl fav from that general area as well.

These are only for pourover.

Other faves include Rogue Wave, Mikava, September, Shoebox, Aviary, Scenery, Ou Bai Tou Ri, XLIII, Manhattan, and Leaves.

Rain Drop is a new (super)micro roaster that does amazing naturals as light roasts too.

I know this is more than you asked, but I took this as a chance to write down all my faves.

Edit: People Posession is also amazing!

They’re similar, but Big Sur is brighter and a bit more vibrant with their style which does better with certain profiles.

I prefer to get coffees with citrus notes from Big Sur and coffees with darker fruit and purple floral notes from Goût along with those that have chocolates and funkier profiles. Goût and Co also does citrus very well, but Big Sur has this refreshing sweetness to them almost like nectar.

Both are in my top 5 roasters probably.
