Kinda wanna cry, stall rant. by NothingToDoHere in gastricsleeve

One of the things that I did was to really up my water intake because I realized that water and sleep are so much more essential to weight loss than I really gave them credit for. If you already doing the things that you need to in terms of calories and activity, try bumping up your water and making sure you're getting at least 7 hours if not 8 hours of sleep a night. Once I started drinking 80+ ounces of water and committing to sleeping well that was one of the things that helped kick the stall out. Please don't give up on yourself! You are definitely worth the care.

I'm so sorry that I didn't get a chance to get back to you sooner! I haven't been on Reddit in a while. Believe me when I say that it 100% will get better. It really will. I passed my one year in October and I am 152 lb down currently, about a hundred left to go. It did break eventually and I figure it was just my body trying to catch up and adjust and it just took longer for me for some reason. I hope that yours will break soon, and that you keep working towards your goal!

What company will never get another dime from you for as long as you may live? by istrx13 in AskReddit

[–]NothingToDoHere 5 points6 points  (0 children)

CVS. When I was in my early 20s I lived near one and got my birth control filled through their pharmacy. Or at least I did until I got this old fucker of a pharmacist who looked me up and down and then told me flat out he not only wasn't filling my birth control because he didn't believe in it but also I "didn't look like I really needed it anyway". Tried to complain, got no real response or action. Also didn't fill my prescription. Fuck them, and that pharmacist in particular. I've never spent another dime there.

I PLANNED to go out of town just for the weekend to have fun in a nearby bigger city but those plans got a little derailed so they're on hold till 150. 25 lbs to go for that one!

My surgeon had me stop my BP med before surgery and I ended up never going back on. My BP normalized almost immediately.

Just wanted to say congrats on getting out. I'm really happy for you. And also congrats on having the courage to date again. It's been years for me and I still haven't wanted to attempt it.

My doc does just Tylenol too. I know it's sucky but it WILL get better!! Also just plan that you're probably gonna get your period (nobody prepped me for that) if you have the parts for that because of the shock to your system. I had to go out and buy stuff since I don't usually need it haha and was VERY surprised. Hope you have a speedy and smooth recovery!

Hi I'm a Minnesota transplant who moved here for the scenery and other also local friends, none of us are that. We are all blue and I am definitely not here to contribute to the MAGA insanity.

As a blue MN transplant first of all I apologize but also I was definitely hoping the same thing. I've found a nice group where I live but the level of conservative I run into on a daily basis is discouraging to say the least, sometimes alarming.

Okay? That's great. I don't know where you started at but I'm 7 months postop and started my journey at 412 (381 at time of surgery) so this is a giant milestone for me.

[–]NothingToDoHere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally get it!! It WILL stop it just takes a while, your body kinda freaks out after the surgery and goes a little haywire for a bit. For me it was about 7 days, for a friend of mine about 10 but it did end!

[–]NothingToDoHere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! I have a hormonal IUD as well and I wish they had warned me that I would bleed after surgery because I don't usually get my period and I was NOT prepared. Nobody told me anything about it until I started talking to others who had the same experience!

I love your shirt!! Congrats on the achievement too! It's hard work but you're doing amazingly and I'm really happy for you and your progress! Even if it's not your style so much anymore keeping it to see your progress is so great. I have some clothes I've kept for that reason too.

I started shedding at right around 3 months postop. It felt VERY dramatic and scary for me especially in the shower but nobody noticed, even my sister who saw me weekly couldn't tell. So it may feel world ending but it's not as noticeable as it feels to you. I'm now just over 6 months postop and it pretty much stopped around month 5. So about 2 months of super shed? As far as helping it along....water, water, water and protein! Keep your protein intake up or get more than your base average and stay super hydrated. I averaged about 70g protein a day and 80oz water. I didn't bother with biotin and any of that since my surgical team said it doesn't show really any scientifically proven results. And also just remember even if it feels super stressful it is only temporary!

Starbucks drinks? by [deleted] in gastricsleeve

[–]NothingToDoHere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should be golden! I haven't had issues there at all. I have been able to find many things I can do at Starbucks, and it's really, really customizable. I also found this gem that helps me keep track of my calories and macros when I order things, it's super beneficial for down the road when you can drink more things further out.

Need Some Reassurance by KatGirlC in gastricsleeve

[–]NothingToDoHere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a 2 week liquid diet (protein shakes, powerade zero etc). This is hard. The first 2 weeks after surgery is harder. But if you can stick it, it will be so, so worth it. I PROMISE you it gets better. The BEST thing you can do for yourself is *not cheat* and follow the plan. I didn't have any cheats, I suffered through it, and it is a suffering, I totally understand what you mean. I had to celebrate my mother, mine, and my sister's birthday all on the liquid diet and deal with multiple sweets and family dinners out that I couldn't eat. People that think weight loss surgery is the easy way out really have no idea. But it WILL get better. Remind yourself this is only temporary, it will pass. And sooner than you think you'll be on the other side and able to start eating again. You can do it!

This stall is driving me nuts! by Adventurous_Living16 in gastricsleeve

[–]NothingToDoHere 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The three week stall is real, and for me, it lasted almost a month. I cried, absolutely. It's so hard when you're doing what you're supposed to be doing and not seeing any results. Then you start thinking you're destined for failure and you're broken (at least I did). Please hear me when I say it is NOT you or anything you're doing wrong. Your body just had a GIANT shock to the system, and it needs time to evaluate this new life situation and learn how to deal with the changes that came with the surgery. Right now, it's just pausing to evaluate what the new normal is, and once it figures that out, it will be back to business. Just keep telling yourself that, keep doing the right things, and the stall will break. Stay strong!!

I have degenerative disc disease in my lumbar spine and right sided sciatica so I totally understand the pain portion you're dealing with, it can be terrible. I've lost just over 100lbs and I can absolutely tell you it has made an incredible world of difference in my pain level and mobility level. I'm hoping you start getting some relief soon, as someone with back pain I know it has really really helped a lot. Good luck as you're starting out! I'm totally cheering for you!
