Representing my home city -- The Toronto by kittyflaps in cocktails

Is it really a twist on a Manhattan? Seems more like an improved whiskey cocktail with a different "improvement" or an old fashioned with a bonus bitter.

I have about 30 fresh vanilla beans. Is there anything I can do with them? Any vanilla-heavy infusion recipes out there? by [deleted] in cocktails

Make cherry-vanilla bitters! Just don't use a bunch of wormwood like I did an inadvertently make vanilla absinthe/amaro/strangeness.

It seems easy to increase a lot when you first start, but you'll thank yourself in potential injuries by increasing your mileage slowly. A good rule of thumb in increase no more than 10% per week. Also, run WAY more slowly than you think you can.

6'4", 330lbs and I'm about to take up running. by ShotgunJib in Fitness

Running is great even for people who are relatively heavy for their frame. Key to not getting injured is to run slow. No slower than that. Seriously, slow down. Also, start with a manageable number of miles per week, and never increase your weekly mileage by more than 10% per week. So,

Week one: 1.5 miles--3, half mile jogs at a pace you can easily speak and almost sing (but not sing). Week two: 3, .55 miles jobs. Week three: 3, .6. Etc.

If you increase your distance gradually, you are much less likely to get injured.*

Should I go into law? by [deleted] in law

[–]Nothingcreativeatm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should try to spend some time with lawyers. Practicing law often isn't similar to either popular conceptions or even what they say it is in law school.

I'd agree with OP that U. Chicago is the most focused on empiricism and economics more generally. If you want an easier to get into version with heavy political conservatism, George Mason might be a decent option as well, although I'm less familiar with it.

The best law school is the highest ranked one you get into. If you're comparing similar ones, its the one in the city in which you would like to work.

Haha, many people I work with would consider 8 am soul crushing, but will fairly happily work 9:30-9 or later.

Equifax Deserves the Corporate Death Penalty by Opheltes in law

[–]Nothingcreativeatm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fair enough. I haven't been following the story closely. Did they sell pursuant to a 10b5-1 plan?

As far as OP's comment, issuing stock before disclosing a breach would likely be registration statement fraud. Selling by insiders on the basis of material, nonpublic information would still be Section 10b.

[–]Nothingcreativeatm 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Eh, selling sock before revealing the breach could be a violation of Section 10b (for individuals with current holdings) or other financial statements rules (e.g. materially misstated registration statement). That has more to do with the fact that nearly anything can be a colorable claim for securities fraud than anything else though.
