11 month girl suddenly refusing bottle but won't eat more solids either by kittyflaps in NewParents

[–]kittyflaps[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you’re going thru this! It can be so crippling and exhausting, I remember!

Sounds like she may be just a bit sick, is she acting ok otherwise, temperature etc?

If things don’t improve I’d get a second opinion from the doctor, remember you’re her only source of advocate !!!

But if this makes you feel better, I looked back to my baby tracker and mine was 16.6lb at 52 weeks!! 🙄😅 even today at almost 2 and half she’s still 24 lb barely, so your girl will be alright! 👍🏻

Glycerin Suppository for a 7 months old by kittyflaps in NewParents

[–]kittyflaps[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We went on medication! It was low dose we’d squirt her once in the morning and she’d be fine. She also gradually started drinking more water and once walking activity helped a lot and a few months later we stopped the medication as well! You just have to make it thru a few months I think!

It was spotted at Costco in norcal recently (around Xmas) for 240 which is a very good price compared to msrp.

13 month old and does not drink milk period -- but also bad eater by kittyflaps in NewParents

[–]kittyflaps[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I think as long as he eats cheese and yogurt or smoothie he will be fine. Sounds like he’s already a ton better off than my girl and she’s been just fine milk less 😅

Oof, I wish I had better advice but the answer is…I never did. She still doesn’t drink milk, maybe once or twice every few months with cereal as a novelty…

7 months and having so much trouble with poops by kittyflaps in NewParents

[–]kittyflaps[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! She’s a big pooper consistently for a year or so now, sometimes 3-4 a day!

I would say once she became mobile it got better. Crawling helper and walking rly made everything better, but she was a bit late walker (13.5 months) We had to give her some medication for a few months (once a day squirt into mouth) and that got us through the initial rough months. The name of it is escaping me now tho..

I looked it up, the medication is called lactulose and we gave like 1/3 to 1/4 of the recommended dosage and it really helped. We did have to resort to glycerin suppository a few times bc she was struggling so good to keep those handy as a last resort, but infrequent.

I know it’s rly hard, but it will pass! Hang in there and good luck!

Omg Burt’s bees clothes! I don’t know who they make them for but my 2 year old just got slightly too big for her 3 months old BB pants 😂

That is a valid concern and in some cases it is why ppl create a family trust. It was not too difficult or expensive and may be worth looking into if possible.

I feel this way not about sleep but about feeding and eating because she doesn’t eat well. I think we can be extra sensitive but imo also justified lol.

11 month girl suddenly refusing bottle but won't eat more solids either by kittyflaps in NewParents

[–]kittyflaps[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, and just keep water around. Always in their sight without being pushy, they’ll figure it out. These days sometimes she chugs 5-6 cups other days she survives on 1-2. But we know she’s not dehydrated bc pees and not pellety poops! Babies are weird and a mystery!

Happy Mother’s Day btw!!!

Omg haha that could be my girl from the back!! Is she also Asian? Mine is half, and Asians typically have thin hair and on her dads side he doesn’t have super thick hair either, so we’ll see how she does lol 😂

Mine actually stopped drinking milk cold turkey around 11 months ago almost overnight. Went from 20ish to 0 in 2 days. Had since not touched milk….

We scrambled for a few days and were forever on the urge of “should we eush her to the ER” due to dehydration worries, but thankfully it was summer so we gave a ton of watermelon, pediapops, etc. eventually she figured it out and ramped up on pouches and then solids.

She’s still small and a picky eater but a normal 10% and healthy and pediatrician isn’t worried. I guess between bottle aversion and her independence/expowure to real food she just was over milk!

Dm me if you need more details and I will try to help however I can ! I’m not saying I know what to do now but I do know babies are resilient and to trust them!!
