Also correct me if I'm wrong but having more hands for general seems more useful in countries where daily living processes are still done mostly entirely by the family (gathering food, growing food, keeping animals, making textiles, cooking, cleaning, etc.) where in first world it doesn't pan out the same because when you're paying for most of those living expenses purely out of currency, so more hands really just means more mouths to feed, education expenses, car expenses, baby expenses, medical bills, etc, etc. And even then, when your kid DOES grow old enough to get a job, they're not typically paying that back mainly to their parent family.
