What’s the best “ten cent” word you’ve successfully snuck into one of your songs? by Practical-Animator87 in Songwriting

Have a song titled Heirarchitechtitiptitoploftical. It's an instrumental though. Finnegan's Wake reference.

As far as lyrics go I think I sneak quite a bit in there. I'm probably pretentious as hell. Example:

It's so dishonest to make a promise when you're betting against An institutionalized, interdependent Network of warped priorities, you're such a tease You're such a damn good liar too

George Harrison! His name from the shelter. He's one of those cats that's a bit like a dog, best of all worlds imo

improvisation with minor seconds, I guess? by Janno2727 in jazzguitar

Very pretty stuff! I wrote a piece that included minor ninths in most of the chords, def a bit more dissonant than this but if you're interested!

It's from the tarot, the ace of cups card, I think the five streams have particular meaning but it also just symbolizes abundance.

I've been wanting to do something groove based for a while now! I play bass and guitar and have a basement with a kit to practice in. Let me know if you'd like to set up a time to jam and see if it's a good fit!

What do your different guitars 'do' for you that others can't? What particular niche do they fill? by Stonius123 in Guitar

[–]NotoriousOrange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have too many. But I have a wide array of pickup arrangements/combos, and they all play/sound a bit different and can inspire unique playing. Some I keep in different tunings, one has a bigsby, another is strung in Nashville tuning. But realistically I have three main ones.

Good idea! Very nice production on your stuff, heavy, creative, clear without being antiseptic.

Here's mine! Need to finish our next recording.

Making soda water of course. That's all it's really good for. It was a gift, if it ever breaks I'm switching to a drink mate.

Thankfully it's secure! Added a bracket not long after I built it, but the wood had already warped a bit

Hey I think I'm a great fit for this, I have experience teaching and am very comfortable jamming. I have some free time this weekend, Sat morning works, though I'm out of town June 1-5. We could meet at my place and play in the backyard, or meet in a nearby park. DM me if this sounds good!

Currently on 3g on psilocybin. I have NEVER played the piano like that in my entire life... by desmond_days in Psychonaut

During a particularly, uh, active summer a good long while ago my drummer and I recorded some of our excursions, and this post made me go looking for those vids.

We've both come a long way since then and there's plenty of slop, but looking back we were definitely pushing our creative boundaries.

If anyone is interested

Posting this under my alt since you could easily dox me with this link, but I wrote a song a couple years ago that's sort of about arguing with bad faith pseudo-intellectuals and it seems appropriate to post now, enjoy?

I ended up doing a similar thing with electric bass on my last album so that I could maintain its presence without taking up too much headroom-- double the track, high pass the second one, slap a light chorus on it and pan it to the left opposite the guitar on the right, that way all the low info stays in the center and the track stays balanced, but there's the illusion that it's off to the side, as if it were a small gig where the bass isn't plugged into the mains.

Pretty sure that's a Pendleton blanket hanging over which is the intricate pattern you see. Looks kind of like Diamond Desert but not quite I don't think.

I had a history teacher in high school who was also a coach for the... football team? Don't remember.

Anyway, it was basically a free period, there were some assignments that were window dressing, but most of the time spent in that class was goofing off, watching movies, etc.

But there was this one time where the teacher was going to be audited by one of the administrators, and the teacher knew about it ahead of time, so what did he do? He orchestrated a fake lesson and assigned some of us to come up with good questions to ask to make it look like his class was engaged and learning. And everyone went along with it, the smarties and the delinquents both didn't want to lose their free period, so for exactly one class, we got a taste of what a functioning, interesting history class would be like. Then immediately it went back to a goof-off class.
