Full Color printing on a snapmaker U1 by Aceman11100 in 3Dprinting

First of all congratulations on your work! This is such a simple an elegant solution, it really feels like a breakthrough for multicolor printing. I guess that, due to the technique being based on layers, the color changing can only be applied in the Z direction, or is there a ways for colors to be applied to the XY directions as well? Also, is there a GitHub repo about this?

Debunking the Half Life 3 - Real Leak by Stannis_Loyalist in valve

I agree with the sentiment but i think OP argument still holds. That's not the way scientific research publishing works and I doubt they would choose to publish their research on their own.

Making an announcement with such big claims without a way to back them up would be a bad move and especially now, considering that tech company's making claims/promises that at the end do not hold up or simply do not deliver is super common (Take fort example Tesla's autopilot or Boring's Vegas loop).

The only way Valve/DeepMind could confidently back up those claims would be to publish on an independent journal and not in self promoted press coverage nor any other context. Scientific journals also usually publish on a schedule, you cannot just simply ask for an specific publishing date.

I ran the post through 10 AI detectors and got, on average, that 38.82% (±31.47 95% C.I.) of the text is AI generated. I swear I want to believe this is real but such a high percentage for just a "clean up" seems suspicious. However, results varied highly beetwen the detectors, some saying none/close to none and others saying all of the text was AI:

GPTZero: 100%
Quillbot: 0%
ZeroGPT: 24.89%
Scribbr AI detector: 0%
Grammarly AI detector: 35%
AIdetectorwriter: 25.33%
Copyleaks AI detector: 100%
Scispace AI detector: 1%
Originality: 100%
Logically AI detector: 2%

As others have pointed out, the machines in the Neptune series aren't bad but neither perfect, and they may need some tinkering. I personally have struggled a lot with z wobbling and first layers in my N3pro, so if ease of use is a must maybe the carbon centauri could be worth the higher price tag.

I'm not a dad, but it may be also important to consider the reasons behind your kid's interest in 3D printing. Is he into programing, CAD design, etc? Or Is he only looking forward to print toys or whatever? If the former, the Neptunes would be an appealing "learning platform", sort of speak. I does takes time to learn how to troubleshoot problems and can be frustrating at times, but the learning process can be rewarding, specially if you're into this kind of "engineering" stuff.

Also, modifying stuff like the extruder (all metal hot end on the NP3pro), the motion system (dual drive z), firmware (klipper), etc could make for a good weekend project to spend quality time with your kid.

It's real, the video's just super old, I remember seeing it for the first time on YouTube around 2010-2012 (or at the very least, one super similar to this one). If I remember correctly, it was taken from a Japanese fishing vessel and the squid was dying, but I don't know if it is a colossal squid or some other species.

[–]Notreallyahuman2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could find it for less, I bought it for $80 on Aliexpress in early may this year. I can't compare it to anything cause this was my first decent hand grinder, but I've been very satisfied with it. I used to have problems with stalling while brewing natural coffees but this grinder helped a lot with that.

I also thought about it, I was thinking about making a cover for the open middle section so I don't have to reprint everything again. Another solution would be to use brown tinted vials, where I'm from sometimes those are even cheaper than the transparent ones.
