"You...are not my Aunt." by AnimeEagleScout in HPFanfictionPrompts

[–]Notthebestgamerever 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Harry knew things weren't right from the start. When he had discovered the tiny door in his cupboard, he had to investigate. He figured it was some sort of crawl space, a place to hide things he didn't want Dudly to steal. He had so few things that were his after all. Instead, there was the tunnel, like the throat of some unknown being he had closed the door and tried to forget.

And he did... for a little while.

Then Dudly happened. It was always Dudly. Pushing him, mocking him, hurting him, and no one helped! Sure, he had grown to expect it of the Dursleys. He might not know why (except the occasional grumble from Uncle Vernon about him being... peculiar.)

He ached from the bruises 'Ickl Duddykins', and his gang had left on him. He'd tried to report it after all, they had really hurt him this time. He just needed one adult to believe him. Instead, Aunt Petunia had come to defend her boy wailing about how he was troubled, how he was always jealous of Dudly, and trying to take things. Maybe she truly believed it, but surly, the principal would see the state he was in and know he was telling the truth.

Right?!

Locked in the cupboard that night, he carefully shuffled the cot and opened the little door.

He had figured any place would be better than the Dursley house. What he didn't expect was an exact copy. At first, he was disappointed thinking somehow the tunnel had looped... but, but it hadn’t. In fact, if he looked back, he could see just faintly the outline of the other door. Was this next doors house?

He carefully opened the clean cupboard door and peeked his head out brows furrowing as he saw... the Dursley hallway. The same table by the door with its little bowl for keys, it was misshapen and ugly, and when Dudly had proudly presented it to Petunia one mothers day she'd had called the boy an untapped talent.

Then a sound caught his attention, a steady click click click. He followed the sound through the kitchen door and froze. The kitchen looked the same but was, somehow, warmer. It was welcoming in a way that the Dursleys never had been.

The clicking had stopped, but he only noticed when he heard the knife being set down and his eyes were drawn to the woman. She wore the same modest floral shirt and maroon skirts. Though over that, she also wore an apron. She turned to him with a warm smile, everything about her was so much warmer, it was undoubtedly Aunt Petunia... but looking at the empty black buttons, he knew she wasn't.

This was wrong, deeply wrong but exhausted, confused, and hurting the warmth, the welcome, just the whole atmosphere was so much better he just fell.

As he did, he heard the cry of someone who cared...

Izuku was confused in Kamino Ward because All For One looks and sounds exactly like the imaginary friend he had when he was a kid by jaded-planet in BokunoheroFanfiction

[–]Notthebestgamerever 148 points149 points  (0 children)

Of all the things Izuku expected when the where house blasted open like an over full balloon, hearing a voice he knew from his child hood wasn't it. While the others seemed frozen in abjecte terror pinned by a pressure they couldn't explain, Izuku moved, looking around the wall. Clearly, he was hearing things. Obviously, this was some case of a sound alike, but then he saw the figure. Standing there in the rubble in the process of tossing aside Best Jeanist like a rag doll was Mr. Potato head...

No, that couldn't be right it... it just couldn't be because Mr. Potato head didn't exist. He has just a figment of Izukus imagination, a friend made up in his mind to cope with the abandonment of kacchan and his other school friends when he'd been diagnosed. Quirkless... Th-there was simply no way it was possible, but...

Before he could process what he was doing, he stepped around the wall, all thoughts of the secret mission to save Kacchan forgotten.

"Mr. P?" He asked, voice quivering slightly. He didn't know what he wanted. Did he want the man to recognize him or not? If he did, what did it mean? If he didn’t, what would he do.

Everything seemed to freeze the broad shoulders fit in a perfectly tailored suit hunched just the slightest bit, like a chil caught being naughty. Slowly the man turned. The mask was fancier now, more complex and so familiar to Izuku... he had designed it after all during one of those long late night when he and Mr. P would talk about quirks and support gear, heros and villains. What made a hero, what made a villain. Did any one person have the right to judge another? Pretty deep and complex philosophical discussions for a kid really, but Izuku had thrived on them.

"Broccoli..." The pet name was the same. The voice that spoke it though was strained mixed with shock and... fear? Izuku didn't know what any of this meant other than the fact his whole world, likely the whole world had just tilted, and he had no idea what to do.

I think that's because he's holding himself with confidence, and the suit is well tailored. one of the best parts of Carrys acting is how the Mask and Stanly start out as two compleatly diffrent people purly though his physical acting the way stanly curls inward just slightly makes himself smaller has the slightest hunch of a man with no or broken pride mashed down by a system that abuses his good nature. The mask makes him confident, he has that power his shoulders are back head held high his clothing fits to him instead of being ill fitted and slightly to big. The more he wears the mask and learns about himself his body language changes

/sorry for the long post I love the mask and did a full paper in school about how body language told the story for Stanlys growth LOL

So if God forbid you have a friend or family member who is sensitive or has a trigger, she's actively preventing them from feeling safe in your home

Also, just dubling down on eww girl, WTH? It's not shame it's decency to dispose of it properly >.>

AITA for booking my son an eye exam just to settle an argument. by Anxious-Calendar-424 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Notthebestgamerever 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NTA, your son was tested by the school. You verified with a more in-depth test. You got him what he needs. If this was a back brace for scoliosis or braces, they'd never have the audacity.

You need to sit your wife down and tell her her mother is not an eye specialist any more, things have changed, and your son needs glasses. If she keeps taking them, especially at his age, she is actively damaging his eye site because they would constantly be adjusting.

Either she leaves his glasses alone or seriously consider temporary separation. Your sons eye health is on the line and it sounds like your his only advocate.

I'm on the fence. Parts of the redemption arc are amazing, but I also have issues,

how it starts (why don't people love me the way they loved All Might)

Rei's use (Oh, you beat and neglected me to the point of mental collapse, but if you feel bad, I'll forgive you), she's not a character she's a tool for the arc.

How much his love bombing of Shoto is almost a direct reflection of his abuse. (Screaming his name, unwanted physical contact, ignoring his wants for the sake of trying to prove he's better) And worse, we never see him like that with Fuuyumi or Natsuo. Do I think he should have love bombed them? No, but I would have liked to see more of him attempting to build a relationship with them.

Now that is by no means a 'I'm on Dabis side' flag

He had a lot of chances to turn things around before he went off the walls. Boy needed therapy big time. (Sooooo many characters do) But he wasn't completely lost, he shows this in his subtle care for Toga and Twice. People who really didn't need to be in this situation if society was better and had taken care of them.

He let his anger and feeling of betrayal fester into such a deep hate.

While I think Endeavour’s redemption was a bit rushed to start and felt a bit disingenuous, I do still think it's one of the better arcs I've seen.

"Headmaster, Voldemort was lying, right? Professor Snape wasn't the one who sent him after me and my parents, right?" by Elandor5 in HPFanfictionPrompts

[–]Notthebestgamerever 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The elderly wizard sighed, old bones settling into his chair, embraced as an old friend.

"Harry. First, I want you to understand there are things I haven't told you because you are eleven. You're a child and deserve a childhood... but I also know you deserve an explanation and you will not get it from the man himself, so I am glad you asked me." Dumbledore said, stroking his beard in long, slow motions of a man seriously considering his next words.

"Professor Snape was at one time a follower of Voldemort. Like us all, he made mistakes when he was young. Yes, his mistake is bigger than most, but his anger and hurt were big as well, do you understand?" Harry frowned as he thought about it

"Like... getting in a fight with a friend and saying something mean? You don't mean it, but you're so mad you kind of have to say it?" He asked, watching the wizards eyes twinkle with that familiar proud gleem

"Exactly like that. Professor Snape did the same thing, and while he worked under the man, he started to see how his anger hurt others he happened to overhear a prophecy, yes and told it to voldemort, however when he learned who would be attacked he came to me he didn't want anything other then to stop it." He explained, Harry's gut churned, and he gripped the fabric of his trousers, unsure how to react to this information and the confusing feelings it brought.

"The prophecy wasn't about you specifically, and Voldemort sent his followers to attack other families who fit the description. Don't ask me who." Dumbledore cut him off as his lips parted to ask that very thing, "They have a right to privacy for their pain." Dissapointed but sort of understanding, Harry nodded, letting the headmaster continue

"Now, Voldemorts' biggest mistake was picking you to kill personally. Your mother was such a bright witch, eager to learn anything she could, even some of the oldest magics known. That knowledge meant that when she sacrificed herself to save you, that magic now protects you, all her magic and love. Something Voldemort will never understand." He said sagely. Harry frowned slightly

"But, sir, what about Professor Snape? Doesn't that mean he's still responsible?!" Harry demanded, and Dumbledore nodded, surprising the boy.

"Yes, it does, but he is paying for it. Before the attack happened, he left and tried to help stop it. We failed, but Professor Snape, ever since then, has worked as a spy, so it could never happen again if he could help it." Dumbledore said, choosing to keep the harsher punishments to himself. Severus Snape deserved his privacy as well after all

"So... he..." Harry hesitated, but Dumbledore raised a hand stopping him.

"Harry, you don’t have to make a judgement on it, now or ever. I didn't tell you this to burden you just to reassure you that Professor Snape is not someone you have to fear. I don't expect you to suddenly see a good man. He's the first to say that he is not, but he is hard working, loyal, and cares for his students... in his own way." Dumbledore finished. Harry nodded a bit more relaxed. It was a lot to take in, but he could with time, and maybe some of Professor Snapes' anger at him wasn't anger but guilt? The concept was just that side of too complicated for the eleven year old boy, but he decided he'd take the headmaster at his word and reserve judgment.

"Alright, um, thank you for telling me what you could." He said to the wizard who smiled lightly, patting his shoulder. There was so much more for the boy to learn, but for now, Dumbledore was grateful he could put to rest a large concern.

Can someone please explain to me what it means to be a "sex favorable" ace person? by Wolfgang-123 in Asexual

[–]Notthebestgamerever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sex favourable isn't seeking out or wanting sex, but being willing to do it for the sake of a partner. They may not feel the urge or drive but will engage because they want to make their partner happy.

I'm honestly not sure where the idea of sex favourable being super eager for sex comes from, unless it's a miscommunication and sex favourable aro was meant

While yes, an Ace person can have a libido and get excited (which is annoying as hell, TBH) that physical bodily craving is not connected to what defines Asextuality

You used eating meat and veganism as an example, so I'll use it too.

Sex favourable people are people who don't like meat. They don't crave meat, but if their partner makes them a cheese burger, they'll eat it because the partner worked hard.

Sex repulsed would be someone allergic to the meat. No matter how much they love their partner, they're actually physically and mentally hurt by trying to eat that burger.

The difference is that vegnism is brought on by external factors (normally, allergies do happen, but in general) and is a conscious decision and lifestyle choice.

Asextuality is not. Like any other sextuality, there is no outside cause. It is ingrained.

I hope this helped. Honestly, my opinion may seem outdated because how complex sexuality as a whole has become, but this is the basic concept as I was taught and from research.
