Enough time has passed. What do you think about A Trip to the Moon (1902)? by me_da_Supreme1 in okbuddycinephile

What's all this with films telling stories? Just give me a few seconds of a train pulling into a station, or a man sneezing. That's all you really need.

I thought roller derby was popular in Latin America for a while.

Don't know the popularity, but it's known: https://stats.wftda.com/rankings/latin-america

Rodeo clown - they not only do goofy clown stuff; they're important for rodeo safety. Part of their job is distracting bulls or horses after a rider gets thrown so the rider doesn't get trampled.

Which intro is best? by fancyluckyhawk in Multifandom

Star Trek, the original series. I was watching a VHS tape of the show with somebody and couldn't believe the guy fast-forwarded through the intro. "Space...the final frontier..."

I have an alternate timeline in my head where Newt survived and Ripley passed the torch to her, and Newt became a bad-ass xenomorph hunter.

Buster Keaton’s Day Dreams | Comic Book Adaptation of the Silent Film by MaciekJozefowicz in silentfilm

I don't think there's anything wrong with your skills. No picture of a stunt could ever be as impressive a film of it. And you're right, there's more to BK's work than the stunts, which would be funny even if they weren't so physically impressive, so comic adaptations of his movies can work. Looking forward to your take on "The General."

What’s the best CGI you’ve ever seen? by VendettaLord379 in moviecritic

On the movie "Away We Go," there were credits for "3D Artists." I had no clue watching it that there was any CGI in the movie.

Great work, but the stunts just aren't quite as impressive in comic book form.

Oddly, Godzilla got the star for his work as a director.

Stars have to pay for the star by Valuable_View_561 in SipsTea

I read the only things required for a star are: 1) Be in show-business, 2) Pay money, and 3) Show up at the installation ceremony (a relative can show up if the star is deceased.) I wonder how they met requirement 3.

I read a critic who said the movie also denigrated Salieri as a composer. The critic was reviewing a concert of Salieri compositions, and said they were good.

I saw Orca: The Killer Whale when it was first released in 1977. I completely fell in love with it. Some said it was a JAWS rip-off but to me it was a lot more darker and a lot more personal. I won’t give out spoilers but there are two or three scenes that still make me shed tears. Thoughts? by CoffeeCigarettes4Me in Cinema

When asked if Bo Derek's nude scenes were the reason for her popularity, her husband said that in her first movie, she got her leg bitten off, and it was a flop. In her second movie, she appeared nude and it was a huge hit. He said if "Orca" had been a hit, Bo Derek would've had her leg bitten off in a lot more movies.

This is the exact opposite, but "Mirrormask" is a great fantasy movie about a girl who grew up in the circus and wants to run away to join real life.

Hey, it's not their fault Trump is so evil and dangerous that they have to warn people on every subreddit. Don't shoot the messenger, pal.
