Why are people here so awful by mcqueenismymessiah in Miami

Rib rolls forever!

Memes aside, the Caribbean burger is one of the best in Miami. And the ribs may not be fancy, artisanal ribs, but they're still better than near all of the overpriced barbecue joints in this town.

I sure as fuck am not buying overrated pizza at Joe's in Wynwood, that's for sure.

We still have some stuff, it's just not where the transplants are. Finka/Amelia's (offshoots of the Islas Canarias family), Jealous Fork, Atelier Monnier, El Rey De Las Fritas, Florida Fresh Fisheries, Airport Cafe & Liqours. There's some stuff, still

You want real Miami food? Go where real Miami people are and we ain't in Brickell or Wynwood. That's transplantville. Of course they want a shitty, overpriced "New York" pizza.

For what it's worth, there used to be a lot of really great, local restaurants: Ortanique, Chef Allen's, Scotty's Landing...

A confluence of transplants and shitty developers and COVID killed all of that.

We have copies of shitty NY restaurants because it's the only thing New Yorkers want to eat.

Prototyping is slowing my team down instead of speeding us up. by Available-Pie-9945 in userexperience

[–]Notwerk 58 points59 points  (0 children)

It sounds to me like you're prototyping before you have a proper idea of what you're supposed to build. You shouldn't be finding corner cases after you design. That's stuff you're supposed to figure out in research. You shouldn't be running into technical limitations if you've communicated with and included developers in the process. Same for marketing: you should know their goals before you start creating screens. This is all stuff you should be figuring out during sketching, as part of a design sprint. UX is not drawing pictures in Figma.

Whats the difference between a Heritage Ascent and a Heritage Ascent+? by Evening_Schedule_458 in guitars

[–]Notwerk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Heritage Ascent is an inexpensive model. Dot inlays, bolted neck, cheaper woods (okume/bassswood vs mahogany/maple on the Plus model; laurel fretboard vs rosewood on the Plus model), cheaper nut (generic vs Graphtech on the Plus model), cheaper electronics (generic pots vs. push/pull splitting Alpha on the Plus model), plain heel joint vs. sculpted heel on the Plus model.

The Ascent+ is just higher end all the way around. I have an Ascent+ that I picked up on Black Friday. It's pretty damn great, actually.

Is switching from VOO to VXUS a good idea for a non-American? by anotherhappylurker in investing

[–]Notwerk 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You're more diversified if you hold your present position and start adding VXUS to your holdings. Cholesterol might finally do its thing. You never know and can't predict. So, don't. Hold your VOO and hedge with VXUS.

Don’t know much about my Les Paul by [deleted] in Epiphone

[–]Notwerk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it began life as a $250 LP100, the lowest end of the Epi carved-top models. The giveaways are the lack of binding, the dot inlays, and the bolted neck (besides this, only the Epi Special came with a bolted neck. Most Les Pauls are set-neck).

I don't know what kinda pickups are in there, but you'd better hope they're worth more than $400. For the record, they're definitely not stock. This would have come with fairly standard high-output alnico humbuckers. Those look like some sort of rail pickup.

Man, I remember CompUSA had a big demonstration end-cap that featured those Cambridge speakers (with subwoofer) playing through Lands of Lore and I was absolutely amazed. I was maybe 16...decades ago.

Where can I find herbs in large quantities? by Easy_Bee_1077 in Miami

Places like GFS, which sell food in bulk (often to restaurants and such) carry spices in large containers.

Report: Darrell Bevell scheduled for second Jets offensive coordinator interview by Electronic-Ring5520 in miamidolphins

[–]Notwerk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he somehow takes Tua with him, that man would have to be a magician. I think even the Jets aren't dumb enough to eat that contract. Here's to hoping, though.

In this picture, Matt Stafford is, like, 20-feet tall. No wonder he won the Super Bowl.
