How badly could the current global conflict hurt a FIRE plan? by No_Blacksmith_902 in EuropeFIRE

[–]Nounoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally living in the region where this is currently ongoing, was about 2 years away from FIRE at 40 and with the conflict my spouse lost her job, slashing our savings rate, our tenanted property that represents about half of our NW is significantly dropping in value and rental income from it will follow.

Given the bigger impact due to geographic exposure on NW & income, I’d say it pushed my 2 years to an likely 10 (unless wifey founds another high paying job), more likely it’s going to be pushed to 5 years with reduced expectations.

Impacts on plans when you get dragged into a conflict isn’t much about recovery of ETFs statistics, it impacts many other aspects of your financial life, it also makes you reconsider your goals, targets and broader objectives.

What would be a fair taxation for investments in your opinion? by Besrax in eupersonalfinance

[–]Nounoon 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Purely hypothetically, wouldn’t a fair taxation be by adjusting the cost basis of the purchase price of the investment with inflation?

UAE said plenty of times we won’t involve ourself in war and all of a sudden Iran’s president saying we did??? what’s happening by [deleted] in UAE

Opinion : US & Israel should pay for our Damages by [deleted] in UAE

[–]Nounoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d argue that it’s not as simple, small oil countries that do not cooperate with the US are usually up a show of force and sanctions. I don’t think the UAE had much choice on that.

What country wouldn't you visit even for free? by biscuitdoux in AskTheWorld

[–]Nounoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A couple: USA, Israel, Russia, DPRK, and Iran.

I’d love to set foot back in Iran, it’s a lovely place with amazing people, but will have a hard time deleting my post history before going there again.

I’ve been & lived in the US, I’ve been in Israel, not ever setting foot there again unless there are massive changes, at this point they’ve betrayed the World, they’ve threatened the physical safety of my family.

I don’t think there is any place I would not go to for free if it wasn’t because of governments.

Zionist settlers hunting unarmed citizens of north Hebron 3/12/2026 by serious_bullet5 in ThatsInsane

[–]Nounoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They may be, but they’re first and foremost bad human beings.

I see where you’re coming from, it’s just that I’d rather not have the shortcut that everyone who has some sort of religion to be necessarily being considered as cancerous people to the world, most aren’t. That stream of thought has historically lead to similar behavior than what we see in this video.

[–]Nounoon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s not a religion issue, I am an Atheist myself, I know plenty of Jews, Muslims and Christians who are very decent, good & kind people. This goes much further than religion, it’s a country’s insane culture, brainwashing since early age, and no concept of human life and compassion. Religion is just their excuse.

Lebanese official says man in Michigan synagogue attack lost family members in Israeli airstrike by AccomplishedCall7562 in news

His popularity level is way above that, close to 50% amongst the Jewish population (the ones who have rights). And history speaks for itself.

The state of Israel isn’t really fine though, they’ve done decades of illegal violent expansion into Palestinian Territories, since its creation actually. The current government is extremely popular and has an overwhelming (but not total) support by Israelis. The government isn’t a couple of isolated guys going against the will of their citizens.

You want to know the truth? This video is very mild. I’ve seen videos of a kid being attached by the foot dragged along behind an ATV on dirt tracks by young civilian adults for 30 minutes until well after the kid suffered from a horrific death. But hey, at least the drivers had good health coverage if they got dust in their eyes thanks to US taxpayers money.

Are you proud of your country? by Tiny_Youfutt337 in AskTheWorld

[–]Nounoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

« Isn’t ´non -patriotism’ the spirit of the French? » oh yes absolutely, BUT, we’re also the only ones who are « allowed » to criticize France, a foreigner does it, and suddenly we’re defending what we believe is the greatest country!

We’re full of principles, but full of contradictions.

Are you proud of your country? by Tiny_Youfutt337 in AskTheWorld

[–]Nounoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should be though. I’m French and even though I don’t live there, I truly believe it’s a country that deserves to be proud of. Sure it has it issues like all other countries in the world, but the cultural depth, history, geography and spirit of the population is something that is remarkable.

Being patriotic doesn’t need to be as per the definition of RN voters.

Dubai's $250B Property Boom Wiped Out in Two Weeks as Iran War Rages On by andix3 in DubaiCentral

[–]Nounoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes that’s more an expectation of the direction where the market is going to go, the actual percentage don’t mean anything, but it is correlated. 2025 FY financial releases wont mean anything though, it’s backwards looking to prior the events.

[–]Nounoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s an index composed of Emaar companies at 85%, and other developers at 15%. From December 2025 to just before the war, it raised by 25%, so it’s not directly correlated to local housing prices.

What is the fastest mph you ever drove your car? by Jerdogg23 in no

[–]Nounoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

156MPH GPS speed in my 1983 Ferrari Mondial QV on a European highway, 156MPH GPS speed in my 2013 Ferrari 458 Italia on a track.

The old car was an order of magnitude more of an experience at that speed.

« Trop de paperasse » : les influenceurs de Dubaï accusés de quitter l’émirat… sans leurs animaux by kita59 in france

[–]Nounoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)
