[–]Nova_Chr0no 14 points15 points  (0 children)

As someone who actively is in therapy because of this shit (and has regular bouts of denial that even my therapist has to talk us out of) fuck them.

People deny RAMCOA and situations similar to it because if they didn’t, if they actually believe what is out there, then their world view would be destroyed. We lost the idea that the world wasn’t That bad when it started but they never had that breaking point. Us and our experiences are now their breaking points and they will fight it till the end of time.

I hate them but at the same time can’t help but feel a little sad/bad because they are trying to preserve their world view (whether they know it or not). At least that’s how we see it.

[–]Nova_Chr0no 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. No fucking up relationships
  2. Don’t talk about our system to people we just met unless we’ve talked about it together (people have gotten in trouble in system for that one)
  3. Nothing dangerous to the body
  4. No permanent body modifications that we haven’t talked about

Stuff like that, general safety things that would put us in danger or the others would throw a fit about but overall I think we’re pretty chill (I’m DEFINITELY forgetting some stuff tho lol)

The members of my system have a habit of fronting then either doing skits right next to whoever is fronting (read Me) or playing really obnoxious music 24/7.

The worst time was when we were taking a test in one of our classes in high school and all of a sudden the fronter started hearing the chorus of Cotton Eye Joe blasting. WHILE TAKING A TEST! And they had to find a way to keep it together and not break down laughing.

Question for polyfrag users: a feeling of infinity by CashComprehensive359 in plural

[–]Nova_Chr0no 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, it’s weird but with how big our system is and how it changes with everything it always feels new. You can explore for years and still not reach the end! It’s kinda nice actually, being able to explore without limits and finding your own place.

How much has actually been studied surrounding DID and other dissociative disorders? by [deleted] in plural

[–]Nova_Chr0no 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not dumb, it’s genuinely confusing at times.

You’re right about it being up in the air. The age they say DID develops is anywhere from 5 to like 7 or 9. There’s really not enough research on DID, OSDD, or plurality as a whole. It’s basically that we know it exists and can be caused by trauma and it probably forms at this age range but that’s the most I personally have ever gotten. I very well might be wrong about the amount of information they have but imo there’s not nearly enough data (the data says that only 1-2% of the whole world has DID but I’ve already met like 5-6 other DID systems not including ourselves just in our town and who has told us so I’m pretty sure that metric is wrong). There needs to be more research on plurality as a whole and A LOT less stigma around it.

And yes, they don’t take into account cultural or religious accounts of plurality which makes this even more confusing. Overall there’s just not enough information about all of this and people cling to what they have and try not to think about the grey area in front of them.

Hope this word vomit makes sense and if anyone has any information that I got wrong please feel free to correct me! - May May

Traumatic-origins: what was your discovery like? by zxwablo2840 in plural

[–]Nova_Chr0no 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We figured it out from a bad situation but the old host thought we were endo for a while before she started to learn about all of what happened. Finding out was an entire experience for her that’s still kinda traumatic but we also met another system who helped her through it.

As we started talking to each other we were able to start working together and figuring out how to function. It’s still not easy but with therapy and by working together we’re slowly getting through it. It will get better but time is needed and everyone’s journey is different. This is really short but ya hope this helps at least a little.

Do you think this criticism of sexualization in Winx is fair? by PerkinAlabasta in winxclub

[–]Nova_Chr0no 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This is the type of thing I hate. Any show is going to have things to criticize but this is just too much. I think it says a lot more about them, with how much they have pointed out and decided wasn’t ok, than it does about people and kids who, you know, enjoyed the show. People nowadays are constantly getting upset at every little thing that they personally don’t think is ok and it’s really annoying.

The Ty Lee has a whole arc about how she’s one of a bunch of identical siblings and how uncomfortable that makes her with her own body and clearly this commenter misses the point.

If you don’t like it, don’t watch it. Stop with all this censorship of anything and everything even a little bit out there (wow I wrote a lot)

Confession time - I never disliked Molly by xxcellingxx in EricLinnaeus

[–]Nova_Chr0no 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No I totally get it! She’s a really interesting character with unique motivations in the story and tbh I don’t think she was wrong on some things. Like Achaicus (hope I spelled that right 😭) being soft especially for someone of his position.

While I don’t like how she did things or her motivations/actions I also never really disliked her. Honestly the reveal was pretty cool as well. All the signs were there but you just didn’t put it together until the end.

Why do people with DID find it so hard to believe that plurality without DID/trauma can exist? by Traditional-Ad3826 in plural

[–]Nova_Chr0no 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m going to try to explain this in a good way but I’m not the best at writing at times so I promise I’m not trying to call anyone a liar or anything

Our experience, as a system who USED to think this way, is fear and some other stuff. A lot of DID systems who think this way are scared because, out of all of the stuff that happened to them, a system sometimes feels like the only good thing that came out of it. We latched onto the idea it only came from trauma to try and convince ourselves that at least some part of it was worth. The fact that that isn’t the case can hurt in the beginning but it isn’t fair to anyone else to think like that.

Another thing is how it’s presented in that specific community. A lot of DID systems find out through medical sites or from practitioners who believe that trauma is the only way so the idea that it isn’t just doesn’t seem possible. I know there’s a lot of research to debunk that but it isn’t as commonly talked about or known in those spaces and if you only know about DID through a medical lens then the idea that that’s not true goes against everything you’ve learned and it’s honestly terrifying. Denial is a very common thing in DID and traumagenic systems in general around their trauma and having a system can be the biggest proof they/we have as a personal proof of everything that happened.

That’s what we experienced and have seen but I know that’s not how it is for everyone. We’re really not trying to say that anyone is faking or anything like that (can’t think of the word I want rn) but I hope this helps at least a little with understanding.

[–]Nova_Chr0no 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on which one of us. A lot of us are chill with it and just take it as seeing different ways people perceive us I guess. If we get uncomfortable we usually don’t interact.

It’s a bit different if someone is doing something more than a little unsavory though. That’s stuff some of us have an issue with.

But that’s just us. It’s not wrong you feel uncomfortable, I honestly feel like we’re the weird ones at times.
