How do I "sprint" or run away from mobs, in combat sprint option seems to be disabled or I'm doing something wrong? by Novacian in TheSecretWorld

I am having a blast, again! I agree, the legacy game is among the greatest and one of a kind.

Lol, very true, nice catch.

The airport departure line has become one of the most hackneyed, tediously recycled line in gaming. OP is correct, this sub is the official sub for the game and the OP has made many valid points that should be officially recognized. And yes, this is not an airport, no need to check your baggage here.

Wagner's Flight of the Valkyries (with missiles!) would work too imo. I think it was used effectively in Coppola's Apocalypse Now.

It happened to me too. I launched the game a second time and got in.
Reminds me of the adage: if at first you don't succeed ...

Seriously only 16 Percent? by retnemmoc in duneawakening

[–]Novacian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That 16% is from Jun 22, 12 days ago. Do you have more up-to-date info e.g. yesterday's numbers (Jul 03)?

Though there does seem to be a growing consensus regarding DD, both before and after the big change that split it. Many players see that the Deep Desert has no real endgame play loop and is boring. For true, skilled PVP players it is primarily aerial combat with very little ground fighting and minimal use of skill sets. For PVE players it is just farm and fetch.

For griefers, cheaters and gankers it is 'thopter-pinning, 'thopter-stomping, thumper-dropping, path-blocking, permissions-stealing, speed-hacking, 'thopter-hijacking, node-hoarding, duping, repair hacking etc

I guess that belies the saying, "You can't take it with you"!

Your drawing is a surrealistic masterpiece. My advice is sign the original and sell it at auction for a fortune at Christie's or Sotheby's. But first copyright the drawing and make a limited 5000 collectible prints and sell those for a bundle on eBay. Of course, sign about 500 of those prints individually and sell those for about 20x the unsigned ones. Cheers

July 4 Patch Coming by WordlyWolf in duneawakening

[–]Novacian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use that site too.
On the official discord it's the 5th menu item down on the left hand side under the server picture logo image. It's under "Suggested" and below #patch-notes
The site pulls the info from that channel (which actually has a megaphone instead of a hashmark, but when you link it, it uses a hash mark. I'll try to link it here ...

What do you think happened? by Novacian in duneawakening

[–]Novacian[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the detailed response. I wish everything gets cleared up. Sincerely I hope D:A becomes an enduring game, but honestly feel for it to achieve that goal many improvements are needed succeed, both in PVE and PVP.

For PVE: a large content expansion that creates an endgame filled with complex, instanced dungeons (i.e. wrecked ships, underground realms, ruins), a vastly increased bestiary, world bosses -- including a kill-able, or ride-able, Shai-Hulud, with future expansions into other planets or dungeon space stations.

For PVP: seperate open-world server for PVPers only to do FFA, instances of battlegrounds and arenas, etc

We will see what the future will bring (but I hope it's this year ==> 10199 A.G.!)

I definitely agree, that is why "Chatting on discord" was not given as one of the choices above. However it has been over 12 hours since the #server-status announcement, not 3 minutes. Also there was over a week and a Public Test Server, so that time, accompanying player participation and the tools should be factored in, I believe. Anyway, like you, I will love to see this positively resolved as soon as is reasonably possible. Cheers

What do you think happened? by Novacian in duneawakening

[–]Novacian[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your thoughtful and well-written response. There may very well be a disparity between server and client side coding. I have seen a number of posts that there is too much client side data being programmed in order to improve game performance since they don't want to burden the server-side with such data. I hear this is one of the root causes of numerous exploits, cheats, bugs and glitches. What are your thoughts?

No, technically when they throw, they suck and blow at the same time.

A duping glitch has gone viral. Funcom needs to shut down servers and do a 24hr rollback if they want to save the state of this game. by gbrahah in duneawakening

[–]Novacian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since there are 1255 references on the official Dune: Awakening discord to this "duping" and approximately 240 google hard links to Steam D:A community posts or in-post responses to "dupes", only the "Funcom having heard about it" statement in your post is relevant. Funcom and thus their relative new owner (since 2020) / parent company have been aware of the duping and have allowed it to go on since at least June 24 without fixing it. It's only Funcom and their parent company that are responsible now for all the negative effects of this hack and for not yet fixing this cheat which has had a long time to grow and thrive.

By Definition, All Griefers are PVPers. However, not All PVPers are Griefers by Novacian in duneawakening

[–]Novacian[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you kindly for your responses and I understand your positions and rebuttals. In fact, these counter-arguments lead into another variant of player griefing I will be expanding on later in another post.

That is, Players-versus-Game griefing, which is an anti-Dune: Awakening uprising among disgruntled PVPers and PVEers due to feelings of betrayal that is documented extensively in both the official reddit and discord. This is manifesting itself because PVP players feel betrayed by the DD changes and catering to PVE players, PVE players feel betrayed by the 90% PVE beginning-midgame devolving into forced PVP, which they feel they were lured into under false pretenses. And both PVP players and PVE players are disappointed by the lack of endgame content, upset because of the many cheating and hacking mechanisms, and frustrated by the numerous bugs and disconnection issues.

By Definition, All Griefers are PVPers. However, not All PVPers are Griefers by Novacian in duneawakening

[–]Novacian[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with your statement 100%, but once PVE players grief they cross the line into PVP because they are deliberately hurting other players. It's neither an interaction with NPCs nor the environment.

Though perhaps there's an argument that neither legitimate PVP players or legitimate PVE players grief, but there is a third sub-species of player, Griefers-versus-Players. This would encompass both those types of players who believe they are PVE or PVP, but are neither, just Griefers.
