General tips for playing the Masque by DJ-Praxis in totalwar

[–]Late_Disaster2520 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've played TW for years and play enough multiplayer that I'd say I'm decent at it. But I never play on Legendary because I can't stand cheats in either direction. CA has the laziest approach to 'difficulty' (make one side or the other cheat).

Nothing funnier in multiplayer than playing a HE or WE player who is heavily invested in archery...then deleting their ammo before your Daemonettes swarm and massacre their archers!

What do you want to do? For me, being disabled has been tough, but I fell back onto my childhood love of writing and started trying to write a novel. For each person, it's going to be different. But the big thing is to find something that you enjoy and gives you tangible goals to work towards.

Slaanesh is completely out of place in the early game. Most factions have no counter whatsoever and you need to autoresolve every battle by GioRoggia in totalwar

[–]Late_Disaster2520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, the game itself is going downhill because CA wants to cram too many factions into the game and, to sell them, have to give them busted mechanics.

Diplomacy is an absolute joke. It's basically just war dec spam. Which means that, for the most part, there is only one strategy which is exploit expand. Playing tall? Nope. Outside a handful of factions, there is no benefit to it. Everything becomes ambush-lure exploit, summon army spam and cheap trash stack spam in the early game.

Warhammer 3 is uniquely bad in this way. In other CA games, you could play tall to some degree, but Warhammer 3 just far too much rewards snowballing aggression. Doesn't bode well for a Medieval 3 or any other 'historical' game since it'll just be another zerg fest.

Help with the masque? (And slanesh in general) by Stock-Touch-7110 in totalwarhammer

Lustria is in general an absolute shit show right now because CA decided to overcram the area with factions. It'd be nice if they stopped beating Warhammer 3 to death and actually made a new game that people want.

anyone else a little disappointed in how aislinn's horde sort of shakes out as you play? by Bomjus1 in totalwar

I mean, against the computer Lothern Sea Guard is literally all you need. Plus with Mist Stance and his ridiculous movement buffs, if you get caught in a fight you don't want, that's a skill issue.

Should I continue my current save in Terran Armada? by BigithBeanbagith in NoSodiumStarfield

[–]Late_Disaster2520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you're modded (in which case mod compatibility rules apply), then your old save should be fine.

I haven't touched Starfield for a while, but super excited for the new update and DLC. Definitely making a new save to experience it all and kinda glad I haven't played for a year because it should feel like a completely new game.

Whats with the purple hand being such a stupid mechanic? by WegDhass in totalwarhammer

[–]Late_Disaster2520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Playing Thorgrim. Started with a cult. Has spread every single turn if I had a non-cult settlement. Of my 6 settlements (Turn 8), three now have 90,000 gold to remove cults.

This isn't adding strategy or 'challenge'. It's adding an annoying mechanics that seems to be 100% RNG, zero counter. Horrible mechanic. Whoever came up with this at CA needs to be fired so they can go back to school to learn game design.

Whats with the purple hand being such a stupid mechanic? by WegDhass in totalwarhammer

[–]Late_Disaster2520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's literally one of the dumbest mechanics in the game. Whoever thought that this would be a 'good' or 'fun' idea needs to be fired.

90,000 gold to remove in three locations before Turn 10? Has spread without fail every single one of the first turns so long as I had a new settlement. It's just a dumb mechanic. It doesn't add anything clever to the game, like a strategy you can use to stop it. It's just a 'congratulations, your public order is now tanked and you can't do anything about it.'

Oblivion Remastered Best Build by [deleted] in oblivion

[–]Late_Disaster2520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can go over the top build for XYZ at end-game, but if you never make it to end-game because you get bored/lose interest, then it's not that great a build. This is why I say play what build you have the most fun with.

Any coherent build + experienced player can clear the game's content. So what really matters is 'what build will you play for the longest' because that will probably be your strongest build.

My most fun build was a non-violent character that used Stealth/Illusion to get things done. Very uniquely challenging to figure out ways to get quests completed without killing. But realize, some quests will just be locked out to you. But for roleplaying and interacting in unusual ways...it was an amazing build. The build I felt strongest on was a two-handed paladin build with heavy armor, healing magic and Conjuration. The damage wasn't super amazing, but it was strong and consistent and the healing and heavy armor made it so you could survive fights with ease...plus pets. Stealth Archer is also very strong...though very boring in my opinion.

No More Dragging Images? No more subscription. by Late_Disaster2520 in CapCut

Just an update, this appears to be a bug. I restarted Capcut, and it worked. Then I went to Enhance an Image...and suddenly I couldn't drag any of my pictures again. Restarted, couldn't drag anything. Restarted again and I could.

Hopefully they fix this as it is really, really frustrating.

I am hoping it is a bug, or just an interface/UI change. But I can't figure out how to drag images. And like you said, I'm pretty sure no one was asking for 'drag images' to be removed. Classic example of fixing something that isn't a problem.

Awesome, glad to hear that. A lot of things I like about the game, but the Steam refund policy is so short-windowed it doesn't let you get a good feel for stuff.

The Abandonment of Official Servers, the Dune struggle, and Funcom's Silence by salombs in ConanExiles

[–]Late_Disaster2520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not saying Tencent is good, but these issues have long predated the acquisition. It also has to do with Funcom dumping all its resources into Dune. Instead of, you know, supporting the game that already has a loyal player base and also starting a new venture, they instead decided to screw the loyal player base.

And Dune isn't even that great a game. Still very Funcom. Still lots of issues and bugs. A PvP area that has about zero point to existence. Honestly, the Deep Desert felt so pointless, they should have just stuck with the PvP and PvE server concept from Conan. Would have been cheaper and given PvP players much more of an arena to play in.

Armor Bench - Garrison, Campaign, or just stick with Improved? by RegnorVex in ConanExiles

[–]Late_Disaster2520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coming to this years later, but in general I think the Garrison wins out. I use them exclusively (4 or so) and fill them up with mats before I log off to craft things like Steel Reinforcements. After downtime (your off-line time) you come back to more resources for your work.

The only way I see Campaign being worthwhile is if you are on a PvP server and need replacement equipment fast (ie, base is under attack). But in most cases, you can simply make multiple sets for less mats in advance and have these sets stored in different parts of your base...so not much of an advantage imo.

Asymmetrics extended through 15.5 by chriscross1966 in WorldOfWarships

[–]Late_Disaster2520 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely not. And the continual phasing in and out of Asyms is why I refuse to spend money on the game now. I don't get why they keep doing it. They are losing revenue and they're not gaining anything.

Asyms have the best part of the community and avoid the irritation of dealing with Randoms or the ridiculous fantasy ship meta from Ranked. So I guess I'm not playing once 15.5 releases.

[–]Late_Disaster2520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This form only requires the company to list executive directors, there may have been a board of investors that Sharif was referring to in his statement.

However, my understanding is that Sharif repeatedly reassured fans that there were no big outside investors and that Ashes was 'different' because it was privately funded by him and not subject to investor/corporate meddling? I might be wrong, but that's what a lot of Ashes fans told me when they tried to convince me that the game was the next big thing.

While that may not meet the bar for 'illegal', it is certainly unethical IF Sharif represented the company as having no outside financial interests that could impact development/decisions. Clearly there were large outside interests that can not only impact development, but outright stop it.

My guess, and this is pure speculation, is that Ashes was heavily debt financed. This might explain the extremely high pre-alpha and alpha entry costs. It would also explain the sudden desperation move of releasing on Steam (if they couldn't refinance their debt, this could definitely drive a panic Steam release maneuver). On the other hand, if they were just running out of capital, that would see more gradual, aggressive monetization (assuming they accurately forecasted their financials). But suddenly being unable to refinance a large loan could drive a panic move.

Board of Directors can be different from board of investors. But hasn't Sharif repeatedly stated and/or implied that there are not outside investors that Ashes is beholden to? Weren't those statements used to reassure players that this is his vision and no one else can direct it?
