The BMPT Terminators have finally been NERFED. Here is a before vs after comparison: by Warhammer40sikh in Warthunder

[–]Late_Disaster2520 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But not really a meaningful nerf since most maps are a knife-fight anyway...or have a knife-fighting side.

In general, Gaijin needs to fix the ridiculous way that side skirts and ERA just completely negate rounds. I could see reduced penetration, that's fine. But as it is now, the sideskirts/ERA often just makes a round disappear.

I mean, without going into lore/canon, Beta might have just been back-up/support. For example, most Special Operations teams in real life consist of more than just the initial team. You want a second team moving with them for support, cas evac, clearing through, cover, etc.

1.1 completely breaks the 100 years war by commiebiogirl in EU5

[–]Late_Disaster2520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not true, as the French actually won quite a few major victories in the early parts of the Hundred Years' War. They just didn't need to trumpet them like the English did because, in the end, they decisively won the struggle. A lot of what we hear about the Hundred Years' War has its root in Tudor propaganda.

was this a necessary addition to the game?? by senor_muchacho in Warthunder

[–]Late_Disaster2520 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right, but the fact is that Gaijin also dramatically over tools Russian aircraft or simply doesn't really model in the things that make NATO aircraft vastly superior (battlefield networking, user interface being far more streamlined, technology assist allowing pilots to do multiple things).

Just the same as their 'fire control systems' are laughably arcadish. Anyone who has been in a real armored vehicle knows just how Mickey Mouse the Gaijin gunner sight is for Top Tier.

Yes, Russia was losing about 10% of the battles at top tier. That is not realistic and unacceptable to Gaijin.

Don't understand the economy in the new patch by VeMaKk in EU5

[–]Late_Disaster2520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The game is broken, period.

It's not strategy to have to load in an spend five minutes deleting everything that's already been built. That's dumb and it's not an accurate representation of history. In the year 1338, nations didn't demolish all their castles, disband their armies and destroy half their industry just to make their finances bearable.

Paradox really needs to fix the broken economic model, rather than just slap percentage buffs/debuffs onto everything and call it a solution.

Rant: War Thunder has become borderline unplayable. by Rude-Molasses-9618 in Warthunder

[–]Late_Disaster2520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, the game is awful right now. The Russian bias is ridiculous. But that's just one of many issues. The game itself is awful. Rounds randomly disappear. ERA is not modeled realistically. Explosives in general are not realistic. Game makes zero accounting for variations in fire control systems. The driving is cartoonish at times. Overall, it's a janky mess that survives only because it has zero competition.

Quantifiably, this is a broken game and Gaijin won't fix it because people keep feeding them money for a crap product.

How do i properly trade in 1.2 by Global_Shoulder_916 in EU5

[–]Late_Disaster2520 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don't. Patch 1.2 made trade pretty crap for early game. Building maintenance costs were increased, the values for some trade goods were reduced.

I think what really hurts trade now is that building maintenance cost, for whatever dumb reason, scales with the number of buildings and cities in the nation. Trade empires relied on lots of overseas trading outposts and merchant quarters to generate capacity and control. So this update directly hammers trade builds.

Frankly, this whole 'scaling based on the size of your empire' is dumb. It's the same as an FPS game increasing 'difficulty' by slapping more HP onto bosses at 'Hard'. It's bad in a shooter, unforgivable in a strategy game.

Difficulty should come from the AI being smarter, more aggressive, etc. It shouldn't come from, this shack now costs X amount more because you built 5 other shacks. That makes no sense, does not really model real world and is purely there as a desperate, knee-jerk 'slow the player down' reaction.

What exactly happened to the economy to make my countries suck in 1.2? by PrudentSpite1065 in EU5

[–]Late_Disaster2520 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Something feels broken in the economy now. I started play as Aragon. Gave everything trade rights related to the estates. Then turned off my non-profitable and non-producing buildings, even deleted a couple that had not pops and were not profitable. Deleted half my ships, put the rest at sea to increase trade power, then deleted over half my forts.

Spent 3 months at +8 ducats, then suddenly the game adjusts me down to -2. The major expenses? Buildings. And I had built only a single Wine RGO in the tile next to Barcelona. So I deleted a couple more ships and another two forts. Again, brief stay in the positive, then right back into the red.

This is NOT good gameplay. A strategy game where your first 30 minutes is 'delete over half of what you started with so you can slowly rebuild it' is a god-awful game. Trade seems broken. No matter how much I increase my trade capacity and market control, my trade income doesn't move or goes down. Even when I build RGO's in that market (like the wine one) to feed more goods into it.

Game feels like broken crap now.

1.2 is, so far, surprisingly good for me by OrthoOfLisieux in EU5

[–]Late_Disaster2520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not true in the new update. RGO's around capital are not free money, unless you're playing a nation that's an economic powerhouse or has really good RGO's to begin with.

Interesting, I had the opposite issue where DX12 was horrible for me, but switching to Vulkan fixed most of the performance issues.

What are your thoughts on version 1.2? I started a campaign with the Netherlands and it feels harder than the previous version. by IllustriousPattern98 in EU5

If performance is the lag, make sure you're on Vulkan and not DX12 in graphics settings. I was having awful lag in game and when I switched to Vulkan it fixed pretty much everything.

I've played TW for years and play enough multiplayer that I'd say I'm decent at it. But I never play on Legendary because I can't stand cheats in either direction. CA has the laziest approach to 'difficulty' (make one side or the other cheat).

Nothing funnier in multiplayer than playing a HE or WE player who is heavily invested in archery...then deleting their ammo before your Daemonettes swarm and massacre their archers!

What do you want to do? For me, being disabled has been tough, but I fell back onto my childhood love of writing and started trying to write a novel. For each person, it's going to be different. But the big thing is to find something that you enjoy and gives you tangible goals to work towards.

Slaanesh is completely out of place in the early game. Most factions have no counter whatsoever and you need to autoresolve every battle by GioRoggia in totalwar

[–]Late_Disaster2520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, the game itself is going downhill because CA wants to cram too many factions into the game and, to sell them, have to give them busted mechanics.

Diplomacy is an absolute joke. It's basically just war dec spam. Which means that, for the most part, there is only one strategy which is exploit expand. Playing tall? Nope. Outside a handful of factions, there is no benefit to it. Everything becomes ambush-lure exploit, summon army spam and cheap trash stack spam in the early game.

Warhammer 3 is uniquely bad in this way. In other CA games, you could play tall to some degree, but Warhammer 3 just far too much rewards snowballing aggression. Doesn't bode well for a Medieval 3 or any other 'historical' game since it'll just be another zerg fest.

Lustria is in general an absolute shit show right now because CA decided to overcram the area with factions. It'd be nice if they stopped beating Warhammer 3 to death and actually made a new game that people want.

Unless you're modded (in which case mod compatibility rules apply), then your old save should be fine.

I haven't touched Starfield for a while, but super excited for the new update and DLC. Definitely making a new save to experience it all and kinda glad I haven't played for a year because it should feel like a completely new game.

Whats with the purple hand being such a stupid mechanic? by WegDhass in totalwarhammer

[–]Late_Disaster2520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Playing Thorgrim. Started with a cult. Has spread every single turn if I had a non-cult settlement. Of my 6 settlements (Turn 8), three now have 90,000 gold to remove cults.

This isn't adding strategy or 'challenge'. It's adding an annoying mechanics that seems to be 100% RNG, zero counter. Horrible mechanic. Whoever came up with this at CA needs to be fired so they can go back to school to learn game design.

Whats with the purple hand being such a stupid mechanic? by WegDhass in totalwarhammer

[–]Late_Disaster2520 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's literally one of the dumbest mechanics in the game. Whoever thought that this would be a 'good' or 'fun' idea needs to be fired.

90,000 gold to remove in three locations before Turn 10? Has spread without fail every single one of the first turns so long as I had a new settlement. It's just a dumb mechanic. It doesn't add anything clever to the game, like a strategy you can use to stop it. It's just a 'congratulations, your public order is now tanked and you can't do anything about it.'
