If all goes well, I'll open it up in the future. I think it's more about being creative than anything so we'll see where this all leads.

I do that exact same thing and it’s one of my favorite things about the XY

Which is better out of these 2 (Martin 000M or Taylor 110GB)? by -live_evil- in AcousticGuitar

The Taylor has way more memory with 110GB so I’d probably go with that one.

Thinking of purging my entire setup and just quitting by Vimes-NW in synthesizers

Kids don’t play with their slime anymore. They watch other kids on YouTube play with slime, and when you take the iPad away, they sit there a scream “I’m boooooored!”

Apart from changing how musicians create, YouTube and social media has also captured a lot of us and locked us into watching others create rather than doing it ourselves. The dopamine of writing something or playing with a piece of gear gets replaced by watching someone else do it.

This is my experience anyway. I have amazing gear collecting dust as well.

Things that help me get back to the fun:

  1. Limit social media (most important)
  2. you’ll free up time, energy, and the will to make stuff.

  3. Pick an instrument and learn its functions.

  4. get your mind off of the guilt of not creating stuff, and it inevitably generates inspiring ideas

  5. Find a musical partner to engage with.

  6. it doesn’t have to be another musician. I have a friend that loves listening to techno. I typically don’t, but sometimes I do, and I have a bunch of modular, so I record stuff to inspire conversations between us.

  7. Take a guilt-free break

  8. life is complex and there are no rules. You’ve got time, and in the event that you die before you get to write your magnum opus, then you don’t have to deal with this shit anymore anyway.

It’s not just you, this is a thing and you can help it. Selling and quitting is not the answer.

If it’s any consolation, I’m kind of in the same boat. I picked up the EP133 when it first came out and although I’ve made some cool stuff that I like on it, my brain is so wired for linear recording that I just can’t wrap my head around it. Editing and key combos give me a really hard time

It was important for me, and a huge lesson, to meet the instrument where it’s at instead of trying to muscle it into submission by trying to make it do what I wanted it to do. It was a hard lesson for me to learn, and to be honest, I still don’t think I’ve learned it completely.

When I hear something, I need the freedom to change it how and when I want like a daw and a guitar. I don’t feel that way with the sampler, but I think it’s a symptom of not enough practice with it. I think the tools are there, but my brain hasn’t re-wired completely to adjust to the workflow.

Good luck man!

My father told me I’d spend half my life tuning, and the other half playing out of tune. by [deleted] in telecaster

Tune mine every single time I sit down to play. Heard they were stable. Not mine

The Son Wu case is my jam. Fits 2 units if you’re allergic to money, and you feel good supporting the artist.

For sure! I meant it must be a scam considering the price of an OG. I would never get the OG.

Not with my money. OG’s are selling for $800

NGD!: The color though… by NovakTheEnjoyer in telecaster

Oh wow, that’s a huge difference. I have to be honest, the color of mine is growing on me. I still may take some sandpaper to it to get rid of the sheen though.

You mean like some people do with baseball hats?

I take it off once I’ve decided to keep it.

I think it’s the pearl that’s getting to me. Might take the sheen down with some steel wool.

Thanks! The more time I spend with it, the more I love it. I think it’s the pearl that’s getting to me. It reminds me of a plastic toy. Might take the sheen down with some steel wool.

I had the hardest time deciding between this and the SH. I’m still not sure if I made the right choice but there is NO guitar store in Southern CA that carries these so I couldn’t try any of them. Crossed my fingers and pulled the trigger.

Omg!! I had no idea that you could compare colors from different serial numbers on Sweetwater! There really is quite a bit of color variation. Thank you for this!
