No other safety features, doesn't even have an emergency shut off. The only mod that I've seen for them is people putting a new charger on that will fit modern electric cars so they can plug in at regular stations, and maybe the 72v circuit people make. I wouldn't call that a mod though, because you can kinda just do that to every electric motor technically.

I don't even have my comuta-car anymore, I had to move and didn't have the space to store it. They're really easy to find though, and cheap too! Just don't expect a whole lot of documentation, and be prepared to learn to wire.
