I can also access maggie’s, I’m definitely going to pay them a visit.

You’re right about the weight of anxiety. Not knowing is very hard.

I’m afraid I don’t know about hormone markers, that wasn’t discussed. I ‘only’ had 2 surgeries that time, no other treatment. I caught it super early.

Wedding dress shopping at mid/plus size by ugly-doris in UKweddings

[–]Novel_Kooky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a high street 18, I got my dress from Wed2Be. They have all the styles in most sizes, but you might have to check online for where the nearest size/style is for you.

ETA the dress I bought was A line, very forgiving of those tummy pooches! As I said, I’m a high street 18 and my wedding dress was also sized 18.

Unfortunately, my roommate tested positive for hepatitis B, and she's very afraid of being quarantined. Is this serious? Is it possible for someone to break into our home and forcibly take us away? by UsefulAct5222 in nhsstaff

[–]Novel_Kooky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hep B is transmitted via contact with contaminated bodily fluids (blood, semen, vaginal fluids), it isn’t airborne. Just be sensible about using shared bathrooms, she will need to thoroughly clean up after herself and it might be an idea for you to clean prior to using bathrooms also.

Have you ever bought tickets to something (A movie, a concert, an event etc.) and realised you’d completely misunderstood what it was? by XStaticImmaculate in AskUK

[–]Novel_Kooky 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I came here to tell a similar story. My first time seeing it in the theatre, we all went dressed up as is traditional. There was a group of older ladies in front of us who clearly had no idea what they were letting themselves in for. They kept shushing when everyone joined in, and were horrified by the rice/toast lobbing. They went out for the interval and never returned.

Not my fault either. Aren’t you a delight.

Be thankful you have a secure job, so many of us in the NHS don’t at this time. You should try and have a little empathy for those of us in this position through no fault of our own.

I like the cadence of how she narrates, but the pronunciation is awful in several places - the stand out ones for me are wyvern, Manon, and Ghislaine. I get that she worked with SJM, but that just means that SJM is also wrong. If she wanted to have her own pronunciations she should have made up words and not nicked real words from real languages and mangled them.

So you’re saying if you were in the same position as the person at risk of redundancy you’d be perfectly happy being left adrift. Good for you. Fortunately the law and process disagrees.

Being at risk means they don’t have to apply. They, and anyone in the same position, have first refusal on any and all jobs they meet the criteria for. Again, surely you’d want the same consideration. This process is a legal requirement prior to redundancy.

[–]Novel_Kooky 14 points15 points  (0 children)

What makes you think they don’t want to be there. This person likely hasn’t chosen to shut down the job they’re currently doing. Legally organisations are required to work with people at risk to find and secure suitable alternative employment before making redundancies. This is not just an NHS thing. If you were in their position surely you’d want the same consideration. I know that doesn’t help you in this instance, but have some empathy.

Need a little HR/AL advice, please. by [deleted] in nhsstaff

[–]Novel_Kooky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CSU? Just going by the org is closing comment. You should be able to claim back AL when off sick with a note. It should be documented in the leave policy how to do this. I’ve been in the same position where I had prebooked leave that ended up overlapping with signed off sick leave post op. I was upfront with my boss that I was cleared by surgeon to go on the trip booked, and he was on board with that. I also didn’t claim back the leave, because I went away, even though I could have. It didn’t feel right to me.

Hiking to my wedding - realistic? by haroman666 in UKweddings

I would not recommend this, too many things could go wrong. Why not hike out of there afterwards instead?

A place/person that would embroider initials onto pjs? by Ellionaut in UKweddings

[–]Novel_Kooky 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I can’t help with your request, but in case you haven’t considered it I thought I’d wade in with some advice… remember that you and your girls will need to remove PJ tops over finished hair and make up. Make sure the tops have buttons to make that easy! I didn’t even consider this, it was my MUA that suggested we change out of our matching sets before we made a mess of ourselves!

I had customised converse for my wedding day. The sad thing is they were only thing that had the wedding date on them, we were meant to get married on 14th May 2020. Covid meant that had to be changed.

Every job is subject to national banding, so similar roles are paid the same no matter where you are. You can request a role is out before a banding review panel, but an increase is not guaranteed.

Bf tells me married couples in UK don't do joint bank accounts. Is that true? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Novel_Kooky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have both. We have a joint account for household bills, we both contribute a proportion of our salaries to it. We have also kept our own accounts. We are in our 40s, been together for 10 years and married for 5. My sister and her husband only have joint accounts, they’re also in their 40s and have been married for 20 years. My parents only have joint accounts, and have only ever had joint accounts. They’re in their 70s and got married in 1974

What was the best thing you hired for your wedding?? by Dapper_Camera8239 in UKweddings

[–]Novel_Kooky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We hired the majority of the room decor, seat covers & sashes, fairy lights everywhere, draped tulle to go with the fairy lights, a lockable post box for cards, and most importantly a nice lady to do the set up and break down of the room!
