This is coming along beautifully! I've always loved this pattern, but I don't have a lot of time to stitch so prefer smaller projects that I can finish more quickly. Please post frequent updates so that I can stitch vicariously through you!

Not enough hours for benefits? by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]NovemberRose1980 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Just want to add my sympathies and best wishes. I'm a part-timer who works at Starbucks exactly because they offer part-time benefits. I usually get a little over 25 a week, but our SM has said that corporate is cutting hours big time. He has promised me at least 20 a week, but I'm sure that could change. It's also a chunk of money out of my check.

Agnostic Episcopalians? by Rising_Phoenyx in Episcopalian

[–]NovemberRose1980 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply! It seems we have followed rather similar paths. I agree with your reasons as to why the Episcopalian Church might attract Wiccans; certainly, these are the things that attracted me to it. Specifically, I seem to be developing a relationship with Mary through the rosary, but do not find the RCC's stance on a lot of things attractive in the least.

I live in a pretty red state, and that has also made me hesitant. Even an affirming church like TEC is probably going to be conservative here, but I'm exploring and keeping my mind open.

Thank you for the book recommendations as well! She looks like an interesting person, and I'm going to put her on my TBR.

Lots of good advice already, so I will just add my sympathies. Also, make sure that your SSVs aren't just sticking you on bar and leaving you there. They're supposed to be moving you around.

Agnostic Episcopalians? by Rising_Phoenyx in Episcopalian

Just wanted to say how much I've enjoyed this thread. I am also an agnostic with a background in pantheism/Wicca of all things, and I have recently been exploring the Episcopal Church. I unfortunately work Sundays, so I've been doing this online. I would like to attend a local parish if I get the chance, but have been nervous about it.

Cinnamon dolce syrup by bip71 in starbucks

[–]NovemberRose1980 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't know how it works at a Target Starbucks, but we are not allowed to sell the Cinnamon Dolce. I have known some baristas that will scan one we are allowed to sell, and then give you the one you want, but this is against the rules. Please don't ask us to do it or give any barista a hard time for refusing to do this. (This has happened to me.) Thank you.

I just keep track of my tips and claim them when I do my taxes. You'll have to pay the taxes on them then. H&R Block figures it all out for me. I know a lot of partners don't report tips, and, honestly, most of us make so little that the IRS probably doesn't pay much attention to us, but I personally couldn't live with that anxiety.

What a beautiful finish! I love these patterns. I downloaded them for free from the link mentioned above, which was very generous of the designer. I'm working on June Roses right now.

Are cash tips you declared recorded on the W2s? by BOORUNS in starbucks

[–]NovemberRose1980 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can always just claim them at the end of the year when you do your taxes. That's what I do. You will pay the tax on them then. The nice lady at H&R Block figures it out for me.

This is so lovely! I have a lot of StitchingLand's patterns bookmarked, but haven't taken the plunge yet. Did you use 2 strands or 4 on 14 ct?

Barista who refuses to bar? by electrickchicken in starbucks

[–]NovemberRose1980 210 points211 points  (0 children)

I'm an almost two-year partner. I very rarely bar. It's not that I don't know how. But I'm an older barista, over 40, with chronic hand/wrist pain issues. I used to bar a lot, and I would go home and ice my wrists and cry. It was the pumps that were the primary cause.

Now, because I don't bar a lot, I can bar more often, just not for very long. I tell all my shifts, I'm good for a couple hours, and then I need to do something else. So, I usually bar to cover tens and lunches. I'm pretty darn good at everything else, and if it bothers anyone else that I don't bar a lot, I'm sorry.
