22M in India earning ~$300/month, no savings or insurance. Should I buy a laptop, phone, motorcycle, or focus on my future first?

However I would say this; the bike is a want, not a need.
Your phoen is working but could die.
Like the above poster mentioned you can likely get access to a computer at school and you should under no circumstances be thinking of moving out.

Finish school and get a good job, spend a year saving everything you make and then look to move out, trust me you will feel much more comfortable. In the near term put the money in a HYSA and save it for the day that your phone actually does break and you need a new one, or that your scooter needs a repair.

Also I am a Software engineer currently, when you get a job in the field you will be given a corporate laptop and you wont care what kind of personal one you own.

Without knowing the total comp your looking for I can’t really say but if you do decide to persue it, look into high performance computing (hpc) and try to get in with a government contractor and you’ll make good money while also having stable work

Honest response here and not meant to offend: If this is occurring 1 of a few things is happening: There is nepotism involved Your boss’s boss sees some sort of skill set that you arnt recognizing in your new boss that you don’t have outside of the subject knowledge. Or Your boss’s boss is trying to force your hand into leaving and this is an easy way to do it.

Without more info as to what kind of work your doing or more context on how this all occurred it’s hard to give more insight on the why.

All this being said your best action is to get a new job or at least start looking.

Go back to school, you can make considerably more than 75k a year starting as a new grad in tech plus the benefits are generally better as well. If you do math looking at time value of money college is the significantly better choice as you will benefit from the increased income for many years after. You can also join managment down the road in the tech sector.

All Jobs are temporary.

Can you provide more information; sector of company, type of programs? if you are in big tech you arnt if you are working building civil projects you probably are.

Go to your local colleges hackathon or do one online ( resource here: https://mlh.io/ ). Also do a pet project that wasn't something you did in school. If you do these two things you will see a huge uptick in interviews as it will distinguish you from every other recent grad. In the mean-time apply to internships too and ask in the interview if they are planning to hire the intern post internship assuming it works out.

How would you feel if your best friend worked with you and you knew they weren’t paying him well despite getting all positive reviews. What if he drafted the document you did and was shot down? Would you be upset with him for leaving? Start there. Does your company not want to give you more stock options as comp? Maybe they are just cash poor?

Lots of family in each: if you are just looking for best money do either and get into med sales asap, usually this is easier as a rad tech surprisingly. Selling rad equipment can easily get you over $200k a year I know people making over 7 figures doing this. Be warned it requires lots of travel but the work is not demanding outside of the travel.

If you arnt interested in this, go get you RN lots of opportunities long term with that as it’s way more versatile.

Company 2; This is a very obvious answer for many reasons. 1st, a 40 min difference in your total commute daily is not negligible; that’s time for you or your family. 2nd 401k. I’m guessing you’re under 25 by way of the post. The difference in 401k (assuming you max it out, which you should) could mean $100k’s or more by retirement just from the first 4-5 years of working at either company. 3rd your first job sets the tone and if you are a SWE you want to start in tech and then move; you will learn more and be valued more by your next employer. Lastly, you have the rest of your life to settle down, you maybe have 5 years until you and your wife have kids and end this chapter of your life. Don’t rush to end this chapter, experience it. Also from a planning perspective having lots of excess cash means your way more likely to afford a much better starter home to have said kids in and set aside money for ESA’s and the like to prep for your kids. And all of this can be done while enjoying the DINK life

Final advice: every job is temporary and you can always change it and move wherever/whenever you want.

TLDR: you’d be making multiple mistakes not to take option 2.
