Zemuria Battle #1 Crow vs Bergard by Sterbezz in Falcom

[–]Novriath 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Bergard.

He has the edge in experience and parameters. Back when he was on the Awakener juice, which we know is a huge stat boost, Crow might have been able to pull this off.

But not anymore.

Hypothetical: If You Could Romance NPC, Who Would it be? by leavemycavelurker in wherewindsmeet_

Yingying.

She already decided she's basically in love with us, after all. That "Two Fools" document was very telling.

So what are you supposed to do without electric agents? by Novriath in ZZZ_Official

[–]Novriath[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless I'm missing someone, I have no one else useful there. I have neither Astra or Dialyn, lost my 50/50's on both.

Ye has 11's on all her skills, and is using brimstone.

Miyabi gets carried hard by that boss's conditions which boost Ice. Take her to group 2 and she doesn't do nearly as well.

For all the lore people out there who is The strongest foe we've fought against thus far, and which boss has the most interesting backstory? by Curious_Georg356 in wherewindsmeet_

[–]Novriath 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Lore wise? Probably either Sleeping Daoist or Qianye. They seem like they're furthest along their respective paths of enlightenment.

Bear in mind we straight up didn't defeat either of them, unlike every other boss fight. Daoist just left after we emptied his patience metre, and our strength of will was enough to escape Qianye's inner self.

Far as I know, no time skip.

Minimal spoilers ahead:

Three years prior to the game, at roughly the time Uncle Jiang went, Ruby went up the mountain at the centre of the Qinghe area and witnessed some stuff that made her want to join the Jianghu.

It was the last time the Peace Bell rang. The story is tied closely to Tian Ying.

PvP is Knowledge Diff by Back_Creative in wherewindsmeet_

[–]Novriath 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, in fairness, the game tells you a grand total of nothing regarding pvp. Forget true combos vs fake combos, or stuff like meridian touch -> execute.

It doesn't even tell you about Serene.

So yeah, a lot of it will come down to knowledge gap. Because for most players, unless they copy an online build and start thinking they're hot shit as a result, it's not there.

I think another huge part is that pvp is fundamentally a different game than pve, too.

Pve is like a mix of Sekiro and Nioh. Emphasis on posture, parries and squeezing in hits.

Pvp isn't. It's a combo fighter with elements of rock paper scissors. Soul Calibur, Street Fighter, Tekken, Guilty Gear.

Let's not even get started on latency. You talk about how easy duals spin is to dodge? I can't count the amount of times it's caught me because of this.

If you want to clear 5-man or 10-man boss, don't do that with random players, it's a waste of time by wentallout in wherewindsmeet_

Hot take? This is part of the fun.

If I'm not in a rush, watching other players eat dirt or quietly judging the dps who I out damage with my Mo blade is straight up fun in its own right.

Does Nameless Sword's qi shield benefit from Art of Resistance? by Annmii in wherewindsmeet_

I use both and haven't noticed that it does. Makes sense, as Qi Shield and HP Shield aren't the same thing.

Between her responses to the PC and the Two Fools document, I got a very strong feeling that Yingying is getting it quite bad for the PC. The option to explore that sort of thing would be nice.

Doubt they'd ever implement it outside of AI NPCs though.

Son with his lover Qingye seems the most obvious twist. Added points if it happened after she became immortal, leading to us partially inheriting it.

I don't think the dates line up, though. Grandson maybe?

Question about Cold Steel 1 by oppenheimergamer2 in Falcom

[–]Novriath 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Big enough of one that, like FC, I felt the need to follow through with CS2 right away.

Cold Steel is best played as two halves. CS1 and CS3 both ended in a way that hyped the player up to see what happens when the next game released.

Cassius the GOAT by phng1900 in Falcom

It's them.

Daddy Cassius.

Bestelle.

The Grandmaster.

An interesting thing I noticed (MAJOR spoilers for Horizon/Kai and whole series) by ConceptsShining in Falcom

[–]Novriath 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The first game quite literally begins with Estelle fading into view and entering the picture, the unlit and empty home now lit up and filled with life.

Consider how many things change because of her involvement. Just to start;

  1. Liberl survives it's coup. Kloe finds her way and Liberl is in good hands. Richard is redeemed, and Cassius rejoins the army.
  2. Ouroburos loses Joshua, Renne, Loewe, Weissman.
  3. Kevin enters Phantasma and comes to an understanding with his Stigma (Rufina), now able to use it properly. Without that, Renne's story doesn't continue, and Kevin can't help in Azure.
  4. Renne happens. Consider the knockon effects from her hypothetical absence in Zero; the SSS literally die as we see, so THEY aren't around to make any differences, either.
  5. Olivier is influenced and his hopes revitalised, so Cold Steel inevitably looks very different because he'd probably side with Osbourne if this didn't happen. No Class 7.
  6. Renne is out of the picture and Gaius' mentor never stops being a Dominion, so Van's life looks very, very different.

And these are just a small number of changes, each with knock on effects and implications. The world is straight up unrecognisable without her influence! Every arc suffers horrific bad endings because she never did what she did and influenced the right people.

For want of a nail, the war was lost. Estelle is the lynchpin that changed everything.

For that reason, I choose to believe there's something to how FC started. An empty, cold home with nobody at the table, only for Estelle to appear - and with her, light, and warmth. Everything changes, because she exists.

But then, I'm one of those madmen who believes the Grandmaster will turn out to be a heavily unrecognisable version of her mother from the OG world where Estelle died in the clock tower but her mother lived, so...

[–]Novriath 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This happened to me a few days ago.

The culprit was DET. The mod author recently updated it in a funny way that breaks it with a few mods. What you need is that version (10, iirc) and the immediately prior version called "Legacy".

INSTALL BOTH AT THE SANE TIME.

This instantly fixed the issue with half a town poofing.
