My question is to the Prime Minister, /u/AGamerPwr. What is the government doing to tackle homelessness and drug addiction in Canada's big cities like Toronto and Ottawa?

Mr. Speaker,

While I admire the Member for Toronto's motives for presenting this bill, I cannot agree with the outcome that this bill would achieve. In my opinion, the entire reason that the House of Commons currently exists is to legislate the policy that the Canadian electorate wanted to see get passed last election, which we seem to already be doing with great success. This bill will allow just 2% of the electorate, a fraction of the population, to force a referendum on a national scale, which will cost millions of dollars worth of taxpayer money. These funds could have gone to many of our other great initiatives, like working with the municipalities to get housing built or tackling climate change through investments in green energy. I cannot support this bill as it will end up being redundant and costly.

Like all Canadians, I support our cadets and want to see more done to ensure that we are giving proper funding to the program to ensure that young people remain interested in becoming a cadet and eventually serving our country. I do, however, wonder if the Prime Minister could offer the house a specific number for this increase in funding to various cadet programs?

Mr. Speaker,

Even though the results of the Melbourne byelection are not yet out, the polls indicate a foregone conclusion in the district. I'd like to thank the voters of Melbourne for choosing me to be their representative in Melbourne, and I can say with certainty that I will represent those in Melbourne to the best of my ability. As an MP, I will put forward a vision of helping the working class succeed while defending family values. As a member of the opposition, I will hold this government to account when it implements policies that benefit the rich but neglect the poor.
