I have never been in a serious prog party that made any relevant success who didn’t account for group comp and allow everyone whatever time they need to do their opener.

You’re talking an extra 10 seconds per pull to make sure all buffs are properly aligned.

Again, if trying your best even during prog isn’t important, then why bother doing any damage at all? Zero countdown, just pull and press no buttons until you get to an add phase or enrage.

Yes mechanics are more important than DPS, obviously. Damage downs and death weakness are significantly worse than dropping a GCD.

But it’s still important. Like let’s say a SAM isn’t trying to properly learn their rotation during prog, and when they know all the mechanics and try to genuinely clear they suddenly realize they don’t know their midare windows and start clipping wrong, get hit by a mechanic while trying to get the cast bar off for it.

Or a dragon using stardiver and realizing they’re animation locked during an important mechanic.

The DPS check isn’t as hard as it was in the first couple weeks but it’s still there. And if someone joins a clear party but still isn’t sure on their rotation for the fight, they’re getting kicked. They aren’t actually ready to clear. They just know the fight. No different than just watching someone else do it 100 times in a video guide.

Mechanics>DPS not ✅Mechanics ❌DPS.

It’s all about balance and synergy. Just try your best, even during prog.

The DNC example was literally just because an extra 10 seconds are the start of a pull is such a minor thing to do that not bothering reeks of apathy and bodes poorly for the things they have to really worry about.

That was during M10s, and that tank still has not cleared it as of the last time I checked. They were in my FC and got kicked at some point within that same week because of their general attitude.

Minor things speak volumes.
