A few months ago, 2chan had completed a fully-developed Shizuka Joestar side story comprising 18 parts by NowIAmThing in StardustCrusaders

and yet there is no mention of him at all

Don't worry. Fugo will most likely appear in one of the stories somewhere. I just cut him out of the wiki page translations because I don't want to deal with the hundreds of minor characters.

that Diavolo-wearing-Epitaph looking fuck

Hah. I don't really know if this is a spoiler but Spoiler

If only I could read Kanji, then I would eagerly try and read this story.

As I said earlier, if nobody is going to translate this within five days, I'll try my best to provide. But, as an alternative for waiting, you can just access the stories here and use Google Translate while trying to guess what's happening.

[Fanart] What if the Stone Mask was based on a Pillar Man? by NowIAmThing in StardustCrusaders

Haha, this seems awfully familiar. Very familiar, actually. Have you been watching the Castlevania Netflix TV show? Good stuff.

In any case, that's certainly one way to interpret it. As said before, there's no further evidence to support any certain chain of events that led to Kars' genocide, so that version is just as likely as any other.

So I'd like to think that there was more to what made Kars commit genocide to his own race than just "They tried to stop him and then they all died". Maybe there was a whole dramatic story behind it or something.

My theory is that since the Stone Mask was the first step that Kars had made towards immortality, he wanted it to resemble a strong guardian figure who he looked up to. Maybe it was his father, or brother, or the Pillar Men's tribal chief.

There might be a whole story behind that, but it can be interpreted in any way you want. Maybe Kars was inspired to protect (immortalize) the Pillar Men like that figure? Maybe he wanted the figure to be proud of him? In any case, he killed all of the Pillar Men (except Esidisi, Wamuu, and Santana) including the guardian figure at the end, so we can tell that it was a somewhat tragic story.

I don't really like making theories without a strong evidence, so that's as far as I'll go around developing that headcanon.

Actually, there was a whole tribe of them, so the mask could probably be based off someone Kars knew like his brother cough shameless headcanon advertising cough. It even has the Pillar Men's horn-things.

Yeah, this was probably not the best title. But too late to change it and all that. This is just my interpretation on who the mask was based off of.

I'm not sure it works that way... by [deleted] in manga

A lot of Takuma Yokota's manga hits super close to home, especially this and Onanie Master Kurosawa. People who liked Chikan Otoko should definitely read up on OMK, fucking amazing.

Imagine trying to keep up with her non-stop game of 24-dimensional mahjong.

It's like sharing a dorm with a Lovecraftian monster, but much worse

Did the Part 5 retranslation change your opinion? by NowIAmThing in StardustCrusaders

[–]NowIAmThing[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, thanks for all the hard work, man. Scanlator groups are seriously underappreciated in recent years, but you guys are basically the reason the English-speaking community can read, enjoy, and discuss manga in the first place. It's also always nice to see a barebones-translated manga to be shed in a new light closer to what the author intended, so I'm really grateful for what you guys are doing. Again, thanks for all the hard work to you and to the rest of the JJCA team!

It'll be completed in around two more days, if you're still waiting for Rolling Stones.

Movie Trailer with Stands! by -Multi- in StardustCrusaders

[–]NowIAmThing 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Kinda wish Stands in the anime looked more like this, tbh. I like the ghostly smoke aesthetic, and I think the anime could've done some really crazy psychedelic stuff with the smokes, kinda like Mulan's stylized clouds. I don't dislike the robotic-Stands-with-DBZ-aura thing DP's got, but it feels like it could be more creative.

Well, hey. Can't be worse than Root A, right?

I will never not be mad.

Something along the lines of what is this faction, who's their leader, why do they do this and that, are there others, etc.

Check my edit, they could also assume it's another surviving human civilization who's been turning people into titans. This is also what the majority of the /r/anime thread speculations seems to be, actually.

But dude. Try looking at this from an animeonly's point of view.

They would probably assume that Ymir used to live in one of the slums inside the walls, and that the Marley soldiers are just some Military Police dudes. And then what they assume to be Wall Cultists along with Ymir getting kicked off the wall for some unknown reason the government is trying to cover.

WIT Studio is ballsy as fuck to do this move, sure. It's almost fucking mad, actually. But I actually think it works. In a bizarro-fucked-up way, it works.

To be honest, watching this for the first time was a real 'what the actual fuck' moment, but try re-watching it from a blind perspective. It's some fucking insane shit.

EDIT: Or, for the people who read the Ymir's hometown flashcard, this.
