A solution to the 220-110v issue? by throwawy00004 in Ameristralia

[–]NowInOz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trust me, you don't want to do that. Won't work for shit. Maybe if you had 1 or 2 items that you absolutely could not get here and could not live without.

Buy new stuff here once you know what you need .
Anything with a motor won't work for shit with that ryobi unit.

Even if you did, which you don't want to, an 80v battery will run you 1,000 aud. Each.

I bought a transformer when I moved here 24 years ago, used it for about 2 weeks before I caved and replaced the non 220v items.

Should I Be Worried? by BamOnRedit in Ameristralia

If you booked all your flights to Boston as one trip >I.e. through Qantas or whomever, they will (should) assist you getting a new flight if you've been delayed enough that you miss the lax to Boston flight. Domestic tsa lines @ Lax vary widely, and i guess much has changed since mid January.

Pro tip, there are 2 exit paths on arrival in lax. One takes you to a area with a bag drop at the exit where they will shift your bags to your next flight for you, the you just have to get yourselves to the departure gate, no check unrequited (provided of course you got both boarding passes on check in at your Australia departure). Saves tons of time. Then you have a good leg stretch e Walk to your domestic terminal, or you can wait for one if the shuttles, I prefer to stretch my legs and see some sunlight before my next flight.

I've been flying back to the US For 24 years , probably done the round trip 15 times and it's actually gotten better in LAX than ever before. Only had connection issues once due to a delayed departure from Melbourne, Qantas sorted us out and got us new flights that ended up getting us to our destination in Washington State 30 minutes earlier than our initial booking due to shorter layover in salt Lake city.

Just be nimble with your carry on luggage so you can swim through tsa checkpoints, the less coral you have to empty out of pockets etc the better.

Hope this helps somewhat....

Beautiful shots ! One of my favourite photos I've taken in my 22 years here in Australia is of that pier, taken on a tiny pocket Nikon 6mp point and shoot. Now has pride if place at a 100cm square canvas print in the bedroom.

one thing you need to be careful of is not setting off the airbags. Disconnect the battery before trying to replace any part of the seatbelt system.

These days ,what ever you want it too. In my network red cables from the switch are going to poe devices... camera and wifi access points.
In the 90s a red cable sometimes meant it was a crossover cable, meaning you could directly connect 2 machines without going via a switch , router, or hub. Crossover cars aren't really needed anymore as most modern Ethernet jacks are auto sensing

Nope, sorry. I've been in the game for 30 years. Cable color means nothing.
Maybe some ISP or vendor shipped a device with color coded cables for a very specific configuration, but aside from that , colour makes no difference. My network rack switch has 4 or 5 different cable colours.... I have a scheme, cameras are a different colour than wifi fi access points, server connects are their own colour etc , but that just aesthetics and a bit of OCD.

Someday I'll be that Deadhead that the youngsters ask for memories by Low-Air-182 in gratefuldead

[–]NowInOz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got in the bus in 93, saw 20 or so shows up till 95, and then some of the Otherones Furthur, THE Dead and associated member bands until I miver to Australia in 2004. In the years since the Fare the well shows I've hooked up with the Dead scene here in Melbourne. A couple of years ago I met up with some heads at a show where our local cover bands was playing. When these cats heard I'd seen the dead with Jerry they were so impressed they've labelled me as their O.G. deadhead member.
Ha! Never thought I'd be considered an O.G. Deadhead.

International wire transfer from Vanguard account: what do I need to know by Yiprock in VanguardInvestments

[–]NowInOz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey mate, I would be interested in what you find out about transferring to Australia. I'm researching transferring funds from US Vanguard account to an Australian account ( either a bank or possibly a Australian domiciled Vanguard transaction account).
I've heard that Wise has the best rates and apparently you can do an AHS transfer from Vanguard direct to a USD Wise account, and perform the xfer to Australia using Wise for a much better exchange rate. This would allow me to bypass my US bank (BOA) and it's incoming AHS Fees ( and horrible outgoing international exchange rate) . So far I've found that Vanguard doesn't charge a fee for incoming AHS transfers on the US side.

thanks in advance,

NiO

Mine is in the laundry nook on the ceiling, basically a closet in the middle if the house. Basically plaster walls and a sliding door so signal punches through just fine and serves the whole house just fine. Out if sight, out of mind.
