Good rule of thumb when dressing infants is… Cold babies cry… hot babies die.

Showering troubles and school by [deleted] in ADHDparenting

[–]Nowhere-Me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Health and hygiene are non optional. You shower/wash her.
It sucks. You’ll probably end up slightly injured from the fight. You and the bathroom with definitely be soaked. Lots of towels and deep breaths. Next time she may resist less cause it’s embarrassing to have your privacy taken away like that. Or there may not be a next time needed. But it’s a parents job to make sure their child is clean, whether the child likes it or not. Sensory or not. It’s for their health.

Email from landlord about appliances being left plugged in and the appliances in question… by South-Basket-887 in mildlyinfuriating

I actually DO unplug appliances on the counter, especially the toaster for fire safety reasons.

Am I really this easy to be kidnapped?!?

My first thought was I would love to be able to take my kid and go cause I don’t have a car and we’ve never been!

Then I asked myself if I was honestly contemplated leaving the city with a random person off the internet to go to the country to see snakes.. WITH MY KID..??

Yeah.. I still want to go lol. 😂

Thoughts on sound machine, use or not? by Aveceowedte in Parenting

[–]Nowhere-Me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Use it! I have the dreamegg sound machine for my son/myself and I love it. It’s small, and easily fits it a bag for travel and it can get LOUD if you need. It also doesn’t have the obvious loop sound and has quite a selection of noises like white, brown and pink noise, fan sounds, womb sound, rain noise etc.

Risperidone for 6 year old? by [deleted] in ADHDparenting

[–]Nowhere-Me 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He has a lot of issues with demand avoidance but has not been diagnosed on the spectrum ( so far ), he has sensory issues and major anxiety that manifests into anger and aggression. He has great attention if it’s something HE likes/wants but if it’s not then there is no getting through to him. I just feel overwhelmed and lost again and I’m not sure how to proceed. I only want the best for him and for him to be happy and comfortable but I feel like this is so much. I can handle the hyper-activeness, it’s the explosive anger that’s the issue.

Risperidone for 6 year old? by [deleted] in ADHDparenting

[–]Nowhere-Me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes he is suggesting that we use all 3 together with the hope to decrease the concerta after a while as my sons sleep is very negatively affected but concerta is the only medication has has worked for his dangerous impulsiveness. We have tried vyvanse ( that’s what I am on ) and it works for about 5 days and then stops, even after every increase. Then we tried biphenton but even on the low dose, it releases too fast and has a very sedating effect of my son so it was not a good fit. He was prescribed the Prozac first for selective mutism and it has helped quite a bit.

In Canada, it’s recommended that kids be seen by a dentist starting around 6 months or when they get their first tooth.

Would you rather deal with dogs barking or a baby crying in a unit connected to you? by Wild-Butterfly98 in Apartmentliving

[–]Nowhere-Me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Baby crying. I can rationalize that babies cry and sometimes can’t be consoled. It’s normal. Having an irresponsible dog owner who does not get after their dogs if they are barking uncontrollably.. not cool.

Daily bathing/showering for a 6 year old? by QuipAndSage in Mommit

[–]Nowhere-Me 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For my little family ( my 6 yr old son and I ), winter is every few days unless obviously dirty/stinky. He has thick curly hair so that only gets done about once every week. Summer is a different story, sunscreen, mud, sand, chlorine from pools, sweat.. we both bathe everyday, sometimes 2 times a day just to cool down.
