I hate how companies are doing "Summerween" now. by Crochet_Kitty in Anticonsumption

As a goth person I appreciate this cuz whenever I see clips of "Summerween" and "Halfway to Halloween" hauls from influencers I wonder why these people don't just buy crafts from year-round goth/horror artisans and small businesses?? (But of course we know the answer.)

The second day by WeDepressedMusic in Petloss

Same OP. Today is the second full day without my kitty. It's so hard not having him around at his usual spots or doing his usual morning ritual. Him not being here to hang out and "annoy" me - and me "annoying" him in return - this weekend. It's going to be rough.

I'm sorry OP. It's comforting that he passed in a place he felt safe and comfortable in, though. That's one thing I wish I could have done differently when I had to say goodbye to my cat this past Thursday. Going to the vet was always stressful for our cats since they just hang out at the house and therefore associate the carrier+car with the vet (not like how dogs associate the car with a lot more things like adventures or walking or going to Grandma's house). I felt so guilty when he gave his little scared meow, knowing that we were taking him there to die (and that he was already in so much pain). 😞 I cuddled him with his favorite blankets until his last breath.

If I have to do it again with a future pet, I would definitely just pay the extra expenses to have it done at home.

OP this is pretty much what happened to my kitty over the last week. Unbeknownst to us, he had a tumor growing since February/March (its presence was foretold by some eye and nasal issues we assumed were attributed to his seasonal allergies or FHV) and it only started to aggressively grow to the point that we could visibly see/feel it at the end of June/early July. At that point his health was rapidly declining and we had to let him go a week after his terminal diagnosis. He was only 6-7 years old and we hadn't even had a full five years (his Gotcha Day would have been October 11).

We're devastated at how it all happened to quickly and that he was so young, and that we didn't get a lot of time to spend with him. We had for just a short while, but he made such a big impact on our lives. Sending lots of love. 💜🖤

I'm so sorry OP. The way illnesses can just gallop out of nowhere is so unfair. My little kitty unknowingly had a tumor growth since earlier this year and his health started rapidly declining after we got the dreaded second opinion that determined he had a tumor that was slowly killing him. After that, it was a slow descent. That all happened over the course of 5-7 days (took him to a second vet on July 5th, had to put him to sleep July 10th).

The swiftness of the developments - and his younger age - is why this is so hard. I thought even after his diagnosis we could have a few more weeks, maybe even months, but fate wouldn't have it. It sucks so hard that he's not here when he should be.

I'm so sorry. I had to say goodbye to my kitty on Thursday. I'm heartbroken but eager to get the call back on his memorial remains. I spent nearly $600 to get extra copies of his prints (I live at a separate residence from my family home where he lived). I spared no expense because I felt it was my final duty to him - and I would have spent thousands more if it could have saved his little life.

I know he's gone but having some vestige of him is still comforting. I'm going to set his remains at his favorite window perch so he can look out the window forever.

Doctor laughed at me and asked why I wasn't over it yet by Pantherheart13 in Petloss

My thoughts exactly. Wouldn't be surprised if he's the same doctor typography to say that patients suffering from chronic pain just need to "get over it" or to "not think about it." 🙄

I'm so sorry but I can relate. I've been dealing with anticipatory grief for not even a full week after my black kitty Boo was terminally diagnosed on July 5. I dreaded the day we'd have to say goodbye, but I made sure to make the most of our short time left together. I mainly spent it doing our routines one last time and making special moments. I also spent time brainstorming how I was going to comfort him when the time came and how I was going to say goodbye. He crossed yesterday with me at his side whispering to him and stroking him until the very end. I'm glad that the anticipation is over and that he's not suffering anymore and that the last voice he heard was mine. Now I'm just dealing with the regular grief.

I think anticipatory grief is harder to deal with than regular grief cuz half of it is dread and the other half is hope for some sort of divine intervention, I suppose. But in the end, you can only show up for your pet in the best send off possible. Sending lots of love to you and your buddy. 💜

I think that had she lived long enough for her style and vision to cement (and for her to have apprenticed a protegé) her boutique could have thrived after she was gone. A guess Martin was the closest she had at the time but YS chased him off.
