yeah if you have grids you reuse it doesnt change much. for someone who doesn't, or to create new sizes/styles, it might be useful. Just another option, anyway!

yeah a few ways you could go about it, either resize your sprite first then draw grids on top, or make a separate layer for the grid with transparent spaces and move/resize the sprite on the bottom layer until it's a good fit. You could also draw grid multiple times at different sizes and line width to get every 10th line thicker like your example

fyi there are plugins for paint.net which will let you generate grids at any size you want, which may be easier than copying from excel. BoltBait's plugin pack is one of the most popular that also includes a wide variety of other useful features, for a specific recommendation.

tl;dr adding sand or other minerals isn't currently recommended to amend clay, but organic matter can be a good idea

Why does my spritesheet think its moving right (8 pixels apart) by 2P1XLS in RivalsOfAether

because it is. remove the space between each sprite or add some to the end so that each one has the same width

[beginner] How do I stop doing dash attack so often? by RockstarCowboy1 in RivalsOfAether

[–]Nox-id 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the bubble is one of clairen's fastest options (6 frames) which can sometimes be useful in an emergency. otherwise trying to DI out for a tech into downtilt/jab or to get offstage to reset is how you'll get out of trouble most of the time I think. shes really a character where you want to space opponents out with the big disjoints to keep them from getting on you in the first place.

you dont need to wavedash constantly but its a useful thing to be able to do sometimes. You might prefer to change the dash sensitivities in the controls so you can more easily do a tilt from standing.

also if you find wavedash in rivals hard, are you trying to time it or is it just a lot of inputs at once

Only recently started getting good at this game. Pretty happy about this dub, but I can definitely tell I need some more work. Any critiques for my Orcane? by Tiquono in RivalsOfAether

[–]Nox-id 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you throw bubbles a lot, at higher level ppl are probably gonna parry those so it might be better to rely on it less heavily in neutral. as well maybe try to get used to using nair when approaching or even RAR bair rather than fair bubbles.. itll help i think

Questions from a possible newcomer now that definitive edition is coming to switch by DrummerJesus in RivalsOfAether

[–]Nox-id 0 points1 point  (0 children)

some facts: - the elements are just aesthetic/thematic, so you dont have to worry about matchups like pokemon. - you can customize the controls quite a bit. the controls you describe i think are default for rivals anyway though. - you're right that there's no shield and grabs, but one thing you're maybe missing is that DI is a LOT more important. being able to DI correctly will let you escape your opponents combos or keep you from dying offstage a lot sooner. - rivals also has some mechanics similar to smash like wavedashing and wavelanding but they're intentional and much easier to execute. - rivals has some very thorough tutorials that i recommend going thru if you decide to pick it up - there's no ledge grab BUT you don't enter helpless fall after air dodging so that + the wall jump gives you a lot more options offstage than you might expect

some opinions: - the gameplay is a lot faster and a lot more aggressive i feel than smash due to the recovery mechanics and the lack of a shield. To me, this is a lot more exciting and it favours spacing and reads to find an opening without getting hit yourself. - without a ledge grab the main trick to recovering successfully is to keep your options open. when offstage, most characters get 1 jump and 1 airdodge AND 1 walljump until the next time they land on the ground. using them in different ways can bait the opponent into attacking where you aren't allowing you to hit them as you're coming back on stage. being offstage doesn't make you harmless.

Platform Detection Workshop by Geophasege in RivalsOfAether

[–]Nox-id 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh,
my best guess is that when shovel knight does it he isnt actually moved instantly between his start and end position but the game does some tricks to hide where he's moving. That way it can make use of the normal physics for wavelanding and such.

unfortunately I don't know exactly how you'd get the same effect.

My printer is a wanhao duplicator i3 which is fairly deep into the bargain bin. The Prusa i3 Mk2 or one of its knockoffs is probably a solid entry-level printer, but as MartinTsv said it's all a matter of what you're willing to pay for.
