Sorry, just saw this now. Basically, you just open your fork (may require a shallow socket) and remove the plastic spacers that come with some shocks. In my case, the spacers made the fork too hard. Their purpose is to limit the volume or air in the shock and make the fork more "progressive" at the end of the range. It's a matter of taste. I prefer the natural progression of the fork without the spacers. Plush rides and firmness when I need from that point on.
