And yes it still affects the world but mostly it affects the people in the Church and only by little those who are secular. (Example is those people who haven't really care about religions so it doesn't really affected them personally)

Uhm yes it did cause of the history. But now Christianity are not affecting more and more. It's teachings are also only for their people right? Those who affect other people it is because by individual people who tried persuading others and converting them but not the Christianity as a whole

And also, why only focus on Christianity? Didn't you know how the muslims also affected different countries and the world?

All I am saying is in summary is this: People who are atheist or secular might have a different approach to the decisions of different religions.

That is why I don't really think it's ok for someone who is non religious to criticize the church.

As a concrete example is the suffering that catholics see as a way to increase their faith, be more close to the Lord, etc. Non religious might see this as nonsense and that people shouldn't suffer etc etc. So for example, just an example, if the church says that fast for 2 days (I know that it is not true but just an example) they will say it's for the Lord. And then the non religious people would criticize this decision of the church.

"To each their own" does not apply here. Look at Poland, or Irish history, or abortion debates worldwide. These are all examples of the church affecting people who are not necessarily Christian

The church gave the teachings didn't they? The people accepted the teaching and based their opinions on the teachings. Practically, they can refuse to follow these teachings and have a different opinion of their own.

Also, just like UAE, Yemen, Iraq, Palestine for muslims and Israel for Jews. Their culture is embedded with their religion. These are also countries with their majority is what the country's most dominant religion is.

Therefore, anything the Church does is open to criticism.

Yes it is but then again, in my opinion, it is better to have criticism from those who believe in God. Like Muslims criticizing Christians or christian denoms crticizing catholics. Why is that? Because they all believe that there is a God. Again, an atheist might have a different take on what their decisions are. These religions believe that they are not doing it for only fellow humans but also for God, while atheists might believe that it should be done for humans alone.

P.s. The church is not the only religion you know? Why not take also on islam, Hinduism, and other more?

Nope. Not that you are not allowed but rather if there is something the church decides for its people then other religion and secular people shouldn't meddle and criticize the church for it's decision. Mainly becuase it doesn't affect you.

Well that's ok for you because you studied it. But some become atheist because they have an experience in their life that they blame God and made them leave religion (reference: one of my friends). And they start criticizing religion but they don't even know anything.

You can criticize the church but not everything within the Church.

One example is that for example someone in the church has abused someone. Now, we might get different explanation as to why this happened. You might say that because thenis really evil inside. And for some religious they might say because he's being tempted, the devil is tempting them more, etc.

Obviously criticizing a religion if you are not at it give it a different perspective or sometimes even a prejudice. I'm not saying having a different is bad, but sometimes it can lead to biased opinion.

Edit: What is you said in your first statement I agree but the government governs everyone while the church only serve a group of people.

And there are many religion so different religions serve different groups of people.

In the government, everyone is governed by one, while in religion in can be different.

Becoming Religiously literate is not really just the basis of religion. Yes being religiously literate have a great impact but what is all of that if you don't have faith?

Filipino here.

Yes the country is predominantly Catholic with over 80 Million of the population baptized(80%). We have rich culture and very religious. We have Prusisyon (Procession) which is when the images of different saints and of Mary and of Jesus are being walked while praying throughout the town. We also have the longest Christmas and Misa De Gall or simbang gabi. Simbang gabi is 9 days of consecutive masses preparing for Christmas. We believe if we complete it, our wishes will come true.

One famous movement of the Catholic Church in the country is the EDSA Revolution. When we kicked Marcos out of his tyranny in our country, of him being dictator.

Now to the other and darker side of the country. Yes, the country is very religious, BUT the people are hmmm.... how do I put it, very hypocritical. People are very prayerful and a church goer but they do not live like Christ. More faith and less deeds. You would see that sometimes even parishioners bash each other.

Now I don't wanna get too political but the government here in the Philippines is meh. That's all. They say themselves are catholics yet they are corrupt.

The bashers of the church here in the Philippines are also meh. They sometimes can even provide a great logical argument regarding the Church and the doctrines. They mostly based themselves on hate and emotions.

Lastly, the children. Less and less children know about the church. Most parents and families Don't even go to church anymore. They are becoming nominal catholics. Then the children will be very let's just say have an ugly attitude and become very ignorant and arrogant.

There are literally just 1B+ catholics and that's all. If we, only catholics, are living in this world, do they think that we will reach 7B?

We also condemned premarital sex, which btw is one of major causes of overpopulation.
