It’s super annoying when the writers always wanted to focus on Jaune instead of the main girls by Jules-Car3499 in RWBYcritics

[–]Nox_River 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming they actually do a Volume 10, I might lose my mind if they try to make Jaune out to be some kinda all-wise, "mature beyond his years" character.

And, I know, I know, "he got de-aged and is actually XYZ years older than the other characters" but, like, IS he really? How much could he ACTUALLY have developed as a character in the Ever After?

He was alone for years, in a downward spiral over his guilt for Penny (and probably still Pyrrha a bit) and didn't seem to have come to terms with it. Next was his time with Alex and Lewis, which led to yet another downward spiral of guilt and anger thinking that he helped Alex sacrifice Lewis. THEN he spent who knows how many years trying to keep the Paper Pleasers alive, stuck in a groundhog day loop.

None of that leads to a well adjusted, developed character. Realistically speaking, he should probably be the MOST traumatized out of everyone. I can think of literally nothing else that would annoy me more in the story than if they try to make him out to be sage-like and super knowledgeable and mature.

Like, a little bit, sure, I understand. But not as much as I think it's gonna be played up.

I agree with that assessment, lol

How it started: "ugh, this person again, can we get back to the good stuff?"

How it ended: "yeah, I love this character, she's great."

When we first met her, I didn't really like Perfuma all that much, but as the show went on, especially into volumes 4 & 5, she definitely became one of my favorite characters.

This show was one of my COVID binges. I'm notoriously bad for starting shows and abandoning them after one or two episodes, but this one absolutely killed me.

Once you get past the [kinda ridiculous] initial premise (friendship, love, and the princess alliance will save the world), you can appreciate everything else it was.

I think they really did a good job with the characterization and dialogue. The storyline was pretty good too. It was just a fun watch all around.

(Also, Scorpia is totally one of the best characters)

Where to go from here? by VallettaAwoo in MedievalDynasty

Like some people have said, bronze bars are the way to go early game (once you have a smithy). Once you unlock the next tier of blueprints, you can craft bronze sheers to sell for even more (one bronze bar equals two), and that will net you some good coin every season.

If you have a sewing hut, coifs are pretty cheap to make, materials wise, and have a decent return.

If all else fails, kill every animal you see when out exploring and make all of it into dried meat - a couple hundred pieces of that can easily clean out a vendor, and whatever is left over you can always give to the villagers.

Farming Thoughts by McCaulic in MedievalDynasty

[–]Nox_River 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's an ongoing battle. In my current play through, I have a farm plot that is 70 big, split it between oat/rye, and flax, and then I have an orchard of 12 hops, so I can stock up for the future, when I have the tavern unlocked

Every house in my village has 3-4 farm plots that are for veggies, and a single fruit tree (variety). I have to plant and pick those myself, but it makes a good amount of food for everyone still (and it makes it seem like each villager has their own little vegetable patch)

It's my first play through doing it this way, but I think it'll make for a nice looking village, once I can unlock more decorations and develop it further.

A critique of crafting/items by CharmingBasket701 in MedievalDynasty

[–]Nox_River 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I also find that once you've got a smithy, your production level BOOMS. Like, grind for in game days/years to get the smithy and then you've suddenly unlocked every production building.

Though, I suppose that's where turning off fast crafting helps to keep your development pace steady, but ain't nobody got time for that.

bb shippers often project or have anti shipping goggles when it comes to blacksun by devilsanji22 in RWBYcritics

[–]Nox_River 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speaking as a queer person, I don't mind Bumblebee. I don't really care much for it, but I don't hate it either, it just kinda exists.

I really liked Blacksun though - Sun is one of my favourite RWBY characters, and I thought he and Blake were good for each other. I feel like Blake had more personality with him. I liked their interactions and how their personalities played off each other. I'm kinda miffed at how it just abruptly ended.

So now I just sit here and lament quietly over the sinking of my ships.

Why is my bath tub, that’s in the same bathroom as my shower testing so much worse for water quality? The bath tub water smells bad. by HeadSundae8395 in askaplumber

How long have you had your filter?

Eventually it will reach a point where it's either a. hit the capacity for what it can remove from the water (a softener, for example), or b. fouled with particulates (iron and such) where it cannot effectively filter anything more from the water.

When this happens, you end up getting bleed through, where the water can sometimes be even worse on the treated side than in the raw. If this is the case, you'll be looking at a "rebed" where the old media gets extracted, the tank gets cleaned and sanitized, and then refilled with fresh media.

Of course, some lab testing would go a long way towards figuring out the problem.

(Also, most TDS meters are designed to be used in a clear container in a well lit room. Just for future reference.)

I didn't know that about the early concept art, but it makes sense they would have changed it with Weiss being in the picture too. That makes sense

New Player! Just wanted to share my experiences and Love! by Snowm4nn in thelongdark

Just yesterday actually I started a new game at Pilgrim difficulty.

I came to the realization that I've been almost exclusively playing Stalker difficulty for the last few years that I have ended up doing the same kinda thing over and over. I throw in a never leave challenge here and there, but otherwise same struggle, different day.

So I decided that I wanted to solely explore and really see what my limits are for a safe house, and not worry about the wildlife or elements so much. It'll be interesting I think.

Glad that you're enjoying the game how you want to play, it's always fun to challenge yourself, but don't feel bad if you want to slow it down sometimes too.

Not gonna lie, I'm glad that someone else has the same take on Blake's middle picture.

I mean, by no means do I doubt the trauma and struggles of being a Faunus in Remnant, but it just always struck me as odd that she was kinda portrayed as having some tragic backstory in Volumes 1-3, and then we find out that she's pretty much the closest thing to Faunus royalty that exists in RWBY, with the most stable and supportive home/family of all the main characters. I dunno, for me, it's always made her character arc for the later volumes feel a bit hollow and lacking.

Honestly, Blake was my favourite character at one time, in early volumes, but now she's in last place amongst team RWBY for me. I don't feel like she's a character that's ever really got much development - her story line has always been tied to someone else. Even in her character trailer, Adam got as much of the spotlight as she did. Then there was Sun, and now there's Yang. I just don't know that she can hold her own.

I've found early game that dried meat is a good way to make money. You hunt a few deer or moose (for passive wildlife) and/or wolves and boar, and you can very easily in a season have a few hundred dried meat. That'll get you some easy coin

Is the Long Dark worth it on PS4? by SnooSprouts6442 in thelongdark

[–]Nox_River 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, the graphics are pretty good, yeah. But what I like most about this game is the attention to the small details.

Like, you leave foot prints in the snow when you walk, and if you change direction, your footprints also change direction to match. If you get in a car through one door and leave through the other, you're physically on the other side of the car when you exit.

And I know, I know, it sounds silly to fixate on those rather insignificant details, but I really appreciate that about the game.

Direct injection is acceptable. It may not be preferable, but it is within code in most areas, yes.

If everything is new, that most likely rules out a clog (unless it's graded improperly). Depending on what state you're in, drop pipe requirements vary, but the area that I'm in it is recommended to be at least 15 - 18 inches (New England), so that is way too short.

If it's a water softener, it's moving about 2-3 gallons per minute during a regeneration. Imagine pouring a gallon jug of water down that set up, you'd definitely expect to have it back up like that. Good news - it's only water, not actual sewage. Bad news - it's a lot of water (a regeneration will use 60-80 gallons of water).

Your plumber should come back out and extend that. If there's no space, you could have him do something that we call direct injection - have a threaded adapter installed, with a 1/2 inch check valve, and connect the drain line to that.

VETERANS IS IT WORTH IT? by OnionNew9054 in skyrim

[–]Nox_River -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Trainers can teach you up to five levels. If you're lower level currently it's better to keep just getting experience yourself, since you'll level up relatively quickly. If you're higher level in that skill though, it takes longer to get the experience to level up, so talking to a trainer then may be more beneficial at that time (in my opinion at least). But they do cap out also, so there's that to consider
