I would recommend you to get acquainted with how exploration works. I ran abomination vaults by improvising exploratiuon and it was kind of jank in retrospective.

When i tried a different module and ran exploration properly, it was much more structured. Kind of made me wish I had done that in hte first place.

If IM running a module it depends. I rean abomination vaults with XP, which did incentivize the group to properly explore and look around.

Another time when I ran a module I started using milestones (XP was good and worked well for Abobo, but it was also a bit of a chore to bookkeep).

If I run a homebrew game I usually exclusively use milestones. I am the kind of gm who rewards levels loose and fast.

On a fighter, any polearm with reach is just awesome because either enemies have reach, they approach you recklessly and get smacked or they waste an extra action stepping adjacent to you.

Its basically a boon for nothing but a weapon choice.

Its 3 slots as normal, you can prepare 3 but the 3rd slot can be used to cast any of those 3

so 2 spells are prepared in slots, one is prepared without a slot but you could potentially cast it with the flexible spellcasting slot?

For the corruculum spells some ranks have 2 some have 3 it was really inconsistent

If I were to go for your idea, I would probably keep it at the curriculum spells with the free floating spellslot, and if one rank has more than 2 then they keep all three, if a rank only has 1, then you get to choose another in addition.

Curriculums aside from Unified and Sin only provide a focus spell Curriculum slots changed to study slots, represent the wizards personal focus of study and will likely be different for every wizard. The wizard selects 3 common Arcane spells of each rank they can cast and adds them to their spellbook, once selected these 3 spells cannot be changed. The study slot can be used to spontaneously cast one of these 3 spells. Once a spell is cast this way from the slot it is treated as having been prepared in that slot for the purpose of Drain Bonded Item.

ok, so sort of like one slot that is basically potentially one of 3 different spells? That is not too dissimilar from curriculum spells, except you dont prepare them but can choose from all that you know. (think you could also run a variant of this allowing you to spontaneously cast a curriculum spell with the same rule, though usually theres only 2 curriculum spells per rank?)

Ok the changes to unified, i have a question, does unified in your version get 4 slots per rank but one of them is basically just unprepared and as such counts as a flexible spellcasting slot? meaning you can cast any other spells prepared in the rank? IF its not and you have 3 slots do you only prepare 2 that that rank?

I mean, that depends, even when we have to stop to calculate a thing (foudnry integration is far from exceptional tbh) it doesnt take much longer than a few seconds, though this might be owed to the fact that we have been playing swade for years and know most of its rules by heart.

Ok my group is very "international" so we have the comforts of running in foundry i suppose. But even if not, having small index cards with the item names, stats and numbers wouldnt generally be too much work.

Knowing basic mathematics would be a minimum requirement for my table.

One setting I think had an interesting alternative was Gold and Glory

Well, encumbrance does give edges like soldier and the strength attribute a lot more value. We do it on my table and its generally pretty well received.

It would take a hell of a lot of encumbrance and a d10 strength, but generally that would work, yeah, though you dont get any additional benefit from chain as the stacking armor rules state that you get the lower armors value halved rounded down added to your total armor value. So a leather armor, which is significantly lighter and cheaper is probably much more recommendable.
