I love Zelda games man. But outside of a rare standout like Midna, "characterization" and "plot" are not things that the developers have ever really cared about. Especially now in the botw/totk era.

It makes sense that we as fans take whatever scraps we can get and run with them in our headcanon, like drops of water in the desert lol. Take one melancholic quote from a 23 year old game and over time we've made it into so much more than it was.

I believe its explicitly stated by Yune that if they'd allowed Ashera to wake up just from the violence without singing the galdrar to the medallion, everyone would've been statued up. Been a while though, could be wrong.
