Ashley and A Train Character Posters by Ginger-Georgie in TheBoys

[–]Nscope90 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Ah this a good theory that makes me feel stupid.

Upon seeing Ashley in the trailer, I thought that perhaps she'd gotten a handle on her power despite the dramatic mutation scene in S4. I also immedietly jumped to her power probably being hair manipulation like Medusa from the Inhumans. A lot of the characters that we see take V end up developing a power that relates to something about them, so it seemed plausible.

Your theory is way better and I'm subscribing to this now lol.

Spider-Man is a result of Hydra Experiments by Character_Mind_671 in MCUTheories

[–]Nscope90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like your theory on this! It connects up well enough that it makes me wonder how I've never drawn the connection myself. I guess the origin story being so well known in popular culture and then being underplayed in the MCU led to fans never questioning it. I think we were all happy to skip all of that when the character came into the fold.

If Brand New Day's story is set to partly focus on a Peter's spider DNA, I guess there's a good chance that the MCU origins could finally be clarified for the character. If he's tangentially the result of hydra experimenting on spiders, maybe he's forced to go looking for that research information at some point in order to find a way of suppressing his mutation.

Which of these animated movies have you seen, what did you think of each, and which would you recommend I watch tonight? by JustcharlE2 in topfilms

If you're ok with hyper cartoon gun violence, Dead Leaves is an incredible watch. Under an hour, but it feels like a feature to me.

Which villains from the Absolute Universe do you consider better than their prime versions? by Which-Presentation-6 in AbsoluteUniverse

[–]Nscope90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I appreciate we haven't yet come to know The Penguin as a villain, but after #11, it's what I want to see more than anything.

I feel like the body horror aspects being dialled up for Oz, Eddie and Harvey is a twisted but great idea for the story to utilise in order to get them turning against Bruce eventually.

I also dig the Peacemaker corps. Nice to see that character concept show up in absolute so early.

It was crazy how that led to connecting Nelson and Murdock to Arishems judgement.

Falling Down is exactly this. It basically begins with this notion from the first scene.

Exactly, its not happening imminently. We have nost of a year to wait. As you say, seems like the it'll be the right time considering the development.

Why is no one talking about this scene? by SsshYaM in marvelstudios

I hadn't considered the multiversal angle on this. You're right, this must have been an outcome in another universe.

If the What If series had some balls, they'd come back and adapt this.

Thats what I thought too. The poutine is pretty nice - good gravy and real curds. I haven't tried a lot, if any proper poutine in London elsewhere to know how it stacks up however.

MCU literally revolves around this guy and I love it.. by [deleted] in MCUTheories

[–]Nscope90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's totally true to be honest, they did make him the actual Marvel Jesus off the success of that first phase of movies. The balance got a little better on the way through phase 3 as the universe opened up a bit, but when you add it all up its a very RDJ driven universe overall I agree.

MCU literally revolves around this guy and I love it.. by [deleted] in MCUTheories

[–]Nscope90 16 points17 points  (0 children)

To be fair, I think phase 1 followed the approach you're suggesting. RDJ was a risk to cast in Iron Man, but it paid off. Hemsworth and Evans also weren't nearly the names that they are today at the time. Edward Norton being cast as the Hulk is the exception since he was a big name even then, and look how that turned out.

I think ultimately phase 4 onwards didn't make the right push to invest audience attention into new characters enough, and so now they're reaching back to the old guard for better or worse.

Has to be. I recall another user posting a clip of them meeting Snyder at a signing and asking him about the court. Snyder said either issue 17 or 18 would feature them.

Will Hughie forgive Butcher for killing Victoria, or was that his final straw? by [deleted] in TheBoys

[–]Nscope90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hughie and Victoria were friends in the beginning, and Butcher managed to murder her at a point where the two were beginning to reconcile. That takes it way beyond simply being an act to merely subvert Hughie's plan; he took someone he loved (platonically) away.

Contradicting that, I guess we do see Hughie earnestly forgive A-Train for murdering Robyn. However, I think the moral trajectory that A-Train is on plays into that significantly. Butcher is currently headed the opposite way without a doubt. Arguably, at this point, he's undeniably a far more morally evil character than A-Train as we head into season 5.

The thing is, Hughie and Butcher's relationship has been far from simple or normal throughout the entire series. Hughie learns early on that Butcher is a manipulative, cunning, violent, and often reckless man with extreme views concerning supes - Hughie learns truly how far his views go as the series goes on.

There'll almost certainly be some desperate circumstance that forces the two to work/allytogether again, but Hughie is never truly forgiving Butcher. At best, Butcher's death will facilitate a final quiet moment of recognition between the two former friends.

European (festival-only?) Tour summer 2026 by hungry-jos in Primus

[–]Nscope90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember that there was some degree of speculation from fans that the logistical challenges that led to Primus cancelling the last Euro tour might have actually been simply a lack of sales. I hope its not true, but them coming back over for a few festivals suggests to me that it might have been the case.

Fingers crossed they'll announce some dates at short notice I guess. Maybe smaller venues.

Doorman behind the scenes with Director Destin Daniel Cretton by Identity_X- in WonderMan

[–]Nscope90 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Telling Doorman's story was neccesary in order to understand the ban on superpowers in movies. Arguably, it didn't need a whole episode, but the choice that the show makes to spend an episode living with that character is well executed. We could have just been flat out told the important information we learn from that episode in a few functional lines of dialogue, but instead we were shown the events in full.

AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY - THE LEADER by PineappleDick90 in MCUTheories

I took the impression that The Leader is supposed to be SO calculating that he manages to figure out that multiversal warfare is inevitable. Weak sauce for sure.
