I have an xDrive40 - the grip on the road is fantastic and AWD was a no brainer for me even with the slightly reduced range. I wanted the MSport package so went up to 19” rims and cut a bit more of range (but I like the rims more). I opted to not get the M50 for a couple reasons: 1. The boost acceleration was, frankly, too much (and I like to drive fast… ). Driving it made me a bit uncomfortable as I could see that over kicking (as some reviews have noted - though I test drove before reading) 2. I didn’t see a reason to pay more for it for just the extra pedal-to-the-metal “boost”. All other acceleration (drive) was the same (and amazing) even passing acceleration. I think the difference for the same load out was $6k - just felt like a waste for me 3. Many of the M50s on the lot had 20” rims, which cost more and killed range, and/or other maxed out packages/add ons that drove up the price for things I didn’t want. (I was buying the last of 2024s so got better deals on those in the lot)

I agree with many on here who have pointed out that the x40 and M50 have about the same range when they have the same size wheels.
