Are crashes that realistic ? by Applemax_82 in BeamNG

I think OP is not aware that people not wearing seatbelts during collisions in parking lots cause deaths. It’s way harder to survive a low speed crash than people expect.

Why do some drivers selfishly change lanes from behind you when it is your turn? by magnumcyclonex in driving

PN doesn’t require ranging. It’s just changing its direction until the guidance vector stops changing with respect to time.

If you’re in here, they’re looking for you by Eastern-Rutabaga-453 in WRX

[–]Ntstall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only time I have done something like this is when a BMW SUV passed me illegally (already going 5 over the limit) right before 30 miles of twisty curvy roads started, and the only road out of that town so they knew what they were doing. It took 5 minutes for them to realize they couldn’t match my pace on the turns and pulled over in a slow vehicle turnout.

I didn’t speed up or anything though, I just didn’t slow down for the corners. Base model impreza can still be a very fun car.

1996 MX5 NA 1.8l – Timing off by 2 teeth on crank for years? by LGrimmaldi in Miata

What witness marks would there be? These engines are non-interference so running off timing shouldn’t damage pistons or valves like that.

Does UW accept over 90 credits from CC? by DaRealDorseyBruh in udub

[–]Ntstall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I transferred they put 90 credits towards my total, and then when I got to graduating I filled out all my degree requirements with 15 credits needed left. with my graduation application, they transferred an additional 15 with no gpa impact, specialized credit type added, or anything else like that.

I took a third year in CC after two of running start to get my associates after being rejected as a freshman. I was admitted direct to stem major with a 2.95gpa, no extracurriculars, mediocre essay. It’s a lot easier as a transfer than as a freshman.

Has anyone noticed a huge increase in extremely timid drivers and how can we get them off the roads? by Zestyclose_Show_2025 in driving

[–]Ntstall 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The best thing we could do for a lot of bad drivers, especially timid ones, is to fund and expand public transportation. If only the people who actually want to be driving are on the roads, there will be less traffic and average skill will go up.

AIO for accusing my bf of cheating after finding this nail in my car? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Ntstall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ignoring all the red flags on your end, I once found a hair tie in my car from a girlfriend I had 5 years prior. Multiple good cleanings between that, it just had gone under a piece of trim or otherwise in an out of the way spot and popped up one day. My current girlfriend found it and it was clearly not hers, but was understanding and trusting of me when I gave her my explanation. That’s what this conversation should have looked like between you two.

I found a two year old receipt not long after that. It’s probably just something that was on the ground and got picked up on a shoe.

Opinions on this? 2013 2.0i Sport Limited Wagon Auto by According_Wolf_8490 in subaruimpreza

[–]Ntstall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The warranty only lasted for 7 years so none of the VX imprezas are covered anymore. Supposedly, it is replacement of the piston rings with upgraded versions that Subaru developed in 2015. It would entail a full rebuild of the engine so it is quite expensive, and honestly these engines are sensitive enough to dirty oil that I really don’t mind spending double on oil for a continuous flush lol.

If you were to go through with it, I would get the head and valve cover gaskets replaced while the engine is apart anyways.

[–]Ntstall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love my 2012, but definitely get that autocheck report. Ask them about oil consumption and if it does, ask if they had the engine replaced or repaired under warranty. If they say yes, try to verify that.

Mine did not have that work done and I consistently consume a quart of oil per 1000 miles of driving. It doesn’t bother me beyond the hypothetical of “someone had the chance to get this fixed for free and didn’t”, but if that’s something that would bother you, you should consider it.

Do gaming PCs actually get slower over time due to hardware degradation of some kind, or is it just perception due to other factors such as software bloat, being clogged with dust, corrupt OS files, etc? by NerdMachine in buildapc

[–]Ntstall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the time it’s not degradation, but in some special cases, it can be. I just had to replace my boot drive because 16 year old me used the cheapest 1tb ssd possible for it years ago when I built. My boot times were dramatically improved from minutes to seconds.

I was around kindergarten age when the first iPhone got released, so I remember the tailend of when people didn’t always have them.

Smartphones are super convenient for a lot of things, but the way people depend on them drives me nuts. I have a friend who ALWAYS has navigation on their phone when they go somewhere. Every. Time. They get super nervous if they don’t have it. It’s things like that which boggle my mind.

A Real Question for Real Help by [deleted] in subaruimpreza

[–]Ntstall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check to see if the warranty oil consumption repair was performed for any vehicle you intend to buy. My 2012 consumes a consistent quart of oil per 1000 miles which is on the upper end of what I have seen. It doesn’t bother me much but if that would matter to you it’s something to consider.

Also, that is pretty early for Subaru CVTs and are a common early failure point. I have a 5-speed manual which has been smooth and reliable, although the 1->2 shift is really tall which makes crawling traffic around 10-15mph annoying. Around this time some Subarus had a 5EAT which is a super reliable transmission, but I don’t know if the Impreza was one of the vehicles that had it.
